The Metalizers are lacquers, but a very "cool" lacquer. Be careful what you use over them; try it on a plastic spoon, first. There are so many variables with any paint that making general statements about what is "safe" and what is not is pretty risky. It's correct that over=spraying them with clear cuts the metal look. Sounds like you are quoting the sales brochure. The Iwata is a nice air-brush and i have one. That said, in my opinion the Badger is just as good for far less money and if you do need repair parts, they are much easier to get.

The R&D Unique caps are very nice, very similiar to the ones in the Revell 427 cobra kit and are cast from white metal. They polish up just great.
