Guys, I wasn't in the office today. Milt I sent you a PM about that as soon as got back home and was done with class. Evil One, I sent you a PM in response to your PM as I believe it was Monday or Tuesday, but it said you mailbox was full when I hit send. Like I said, the name of the company we BOTH work for is called T1G Visual Productions. The name T1G stands for "Those 1 Guys", it was started by a couple of guys who started filming high school events right out of high school. No one could remember their names, so they always use to get called "those one guy" who filmed every event the school did. I know it sounds lame but I'd be more than happy to provide you with his phone number and you can call him yourself, just PM me and I'll get you his contact info. The camp you speak of that is associated to my cell number is The Off Season Camps and Training, I have that number because I handle the calls and general information on the 3 camps they run in the summer. I am an avid football guy, who use to play. Now I coach, and someday would like to coach a high school team when time allows. I would encourage you to call it. Or e-mail info@theoffseason.org - and I'll respond. Now if I didn't really work for them, and just threw that number up, I wouldn't have access to their e-mail account. Anyway - very disappointing. Not the fact that you guys think it's some kind of scam (I guess that's America today) - but instead the fact that you guys all actually think everyone is out to get you. No disrespect to anyone here, but why would someone go to all the trouble of "scamming" model cars. I guess I just don't see it. Do you think someone just has a big collection of them and wants more? Anyway - I digress. Sorry if you all feel this way. Milt you'll get your proof...but I simply going to focus on my own creations. BTW thanks for the advice on the paint. Now I have to figure out how to lay down the stickers without actually making them look like "stickers". - Carl

Evilone, Got ya, I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for all the help. Carl

Evilone, How heavy do you spray it, and how many layers do you put down? Also, I am curious to know the best way to do two tones. I kinda like the look of that, but is it complicated? Carl

Hey, Thanks guys. I never knew their were so many ways to paint a car. Evilone, that coat hanger idea makes a lot of sense to me. I wondered was wondering how to get the car covered without flipping it over. Hanging it makes complete sense. I printed off all the techniques, and I am going to go get a compressor soon. The guy at Riders said to just shoot it with a spray can...I am glad I asked the experts, thanks again. Carl

Hey guys, So I picked up a couple kits, and am going to try and make some nice looking cars. (ought to be interesting ) Anyway, I am wondering how to paint a car? After reviewing a lot of the messages on this topic, it seems a lot people use air brushes and a paint box? Is that different than using an actual spray paint? If so, are their any good spray guns you recommend for a novice? And how many coats do I put on the body, and how heavy do you lay it down? Also do you wait a long time between paintings, I know some paint feels dry, but I guess it really isn't dry? Sorry for questions, and I am not expecting un-real results, but I am looking for some instruction, didn't think there was any better spot to go than here. The local hobby shop here suggest just using spray cans, but I am not sure. Thanks for the help, Carl

Milt, Sadly I don't get listed until after I pass the State Bar Exam...makes me nervous just saying it. But as I've tried to say I am doing my best to work through school to get into a Law Firm in Grand Rapids. Im still a student, 3rd year but still a student. As a result of the job Im at I came to be friends with Rachel. It seems to me this has gotten slightly out of hand. To big to fast maybe? I think the best way to do this is to let me buy the cars. Any objections? I know where they are going too and I know Rachel. I have a clear advantage in this. So rather than you guys all worrying about it, let me ppurchase those that you want to sell and let that be that. I really didn't mean for things to go quite this way. Hindsight sometimes tells me I should just keep my mouth shut sometimes. Id have saved you all a lot of stress if I had just kept in the spirit of my orginal post and not opened my yapper. Pehaps a little of my own pride got in the way. In either case enough stress for all of us. I'll keep working to purchase some cars and help Rachel out, something I set out to do from the start, I think we'll stop taking donations and Milt I will make sure I send you your cars back if you wish: no hard feelings at all. Hell guys maybe there is a hospital close to you and you could do the same thing for the kids there, I think the idea has some legs to it no reason you can't act on it without the fear of being scammed. Im sure it will make a difference there too. Again sorry if this has caused any problems or fights. Not my goal or my intentions. Carl

Cars for Kids...Thank you.

Fellas, Wow, I did not intend to cause a fight. I did post a reply on the scam theory in the other topic but I really was not going for the fight. I guess the bottom line is I can't prove it's not a scam. All I can tell you is that I would be more than happy to pay you for some built models. This is not complicated to me, I am trying to help a friend who I see almost every day or so. I understand where you are coming from I really do, but at the same time my goal is only to get her some built cars and help her out. Some wanted to donate and that is their choice, but if others want to sell that would be great to. Again I'm not asking for charity. Please understand that. I can prove that, send me a PM with the intention of selling me a car, you'll find Im serious about that. Sorry again for causing some fire within the community. But I'm no charity case trying to scam anyone, don't mix it up. Carl -
Fellas, First off I guess scams are out there and everyone should always be cautious so I understand that. As to why I don't go throwing the hospitals name around, well like I have told others who have asked, for one its not a "hospital sponsored deal" I am not a rep from the hospital who is employeed by them. This is the idea of one young lady who was simply trying to help others. It was my idea to bring up the model cars and furthermore after attempting to build 1 car I realized it was not something I was at all good at. My next thought was to buy some built cars so I searched the web for trade shows only finding one in SC coming up. So I then found this board and thought perhaps some people may want to sell some cars. I'm slightly offended that the whole "poor sick kid" thing was brought up. I guess I think that's poor wording on your part. While I understand your point that we are all willing to help the sick I don't know why that has to be the reason we finally realize the world is bigger than just us. You guys are all free to think what you want. But to those that think its a scam Id suggest sending me a PM and offering to sell me a car. I think you'll see I am more than happy to pay. I don't know what else I can do. I have no idea what the other scam was about but clearly it happens. I can't give you the fan fare you may want or the pat on the back you deserve. This isn't about credit and that's why Id have just assume bought the cars so theories like yours do not hold water. Anyway I hope this helps and again thanks to those who have helped. My goal want not to make this a big deal. This isn't United Way, I was attempting to buy some cars for a friend who was a good purpose for them. That's it. Carl

Milt, Kevin, Raul... You guys are incredible. Look I'd be more than happy to pay for anything you need. I will gladly pay you for your kits or shipping or paint, or anything. Rachel was blown away by the support for her idea...simply shocked. She is going to be getting on to the site and signing up. She almost cried. Guys you have no idea what it means. I never expected.... Carl

Fellas, First off, I sent you guys both PM's as you had indicated. But I want to say thank you as well for your interest in this project. Again, I'd be more than happy to purchase some built cars if need be. It takes a lot to give of yourself for the benefit of others. Typically people only do things for self promotion or self glory. Just to do it to be kind to someone else...that's rare. You guys are awesome. Thanks again. Carl McCarthy

Milt thanks for your words. I wasn't sure the best way to post this topic. Although I don't build cars myself, I did try it once and remember all to well how tough it is. So to that end, I understand how much pride you guys all take in your work and how much time is spent on each car. Along with that, through my brief visits through the site, I can tell you guys really do some fantastic work. I looked at some of the pictures and couldn't believe model cars could look so...real. At any rate, like Milt mentioned my goal was to purchase some for a friend of mine named Rachel. She works as a nurse in the Children's Ward of a hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She had this idea about adding some color to the kids rooms during their stay. I though back to when I was a kid and had model cars on my shelves. It gave my room the "All American" look. She figures the idea is good because the car will be something they can take home WHEN they recover from the disease they are fighting. Once that car reaches the shelf in their real room, it can not only serve as a reminder of the battle they won, but also serve as a conversation piece among family friends. She mentioned the idea to some of the boys in her section, and their eyes lit up. As did a couple of the girls... Like I said, although am trying to find my way in the work world...interning....bah and don't profess to be rich, I do waste a lot of my money on things like movies, going out to eat, and the occasional drink. So rather than waste my money on that stuff, I might as well put it to good use. Thus my willingness to BUY the cars. As I posted before, you can e-mail me at ole_miss_law@live.com or PM me with questions and or prices. I can shoot you my phone number as well. (not sure if I am allowed to post that on this site some law forums I'm in don't allow that kind of information their boards). Thanks again Milt - seems like you have a great community here, and the work you guys do - just incredible. Warmest Regards, Carl McCarthy

Milt and Antonio, Thank you both for your interest in this project of mine. Milt - I sent you a PM. And as far as quality, to those kids it will be awesome. Thanks again both of you guys. Carl McCarthy

Hey guys, I am not sure if I am in the correct section, so if I am not please forgive me. I am looking to purchase some built model cars. A friend of mine works at a hospital in Grand Rapids, MI and I'm looking to donate some for display, as they are working on an effort to decorate the rooms of some of the kids currently staying there. I thought a little color to the child's room in the form of some model cars would make it feel slightly closer to a normal room, or at least one like I grew up in. Sadly, because I have little free time, building these cars to look anything close to something I'd actually give someone isn't really an option. If you have some builds that your looking to sell, please shoot me an e-mail on cost. My e-mail is ole_miss_law@live.com Thanks guys. Carl
