Nice score, Tom. One of my neighbors had one of them when I was a kid. At the same time another neighbor had a Vauxhall Victor which was ironically the same color, which was a pale gray-green, with a white top.

I like that one, especially the color, and running gear. -
I bought this kit when it first introduced back in the 90's and started on it right away. It was well executed, and represented the subject matter well. A few months back, a modeler brought an extremely nice Replica Stock build of this kit to show at the meeting. I apologize for not remembering the builder of this beauty, but seeing it reminded me about this model that was sitting in a box waiting to be completed. Originally, I had intended to build it in a similar manner as the above build. However, I made the decision to modify into a street machine, with suspension mods, modern running gear, and an upgraded interior. First off, I painted it with Testors' "Boyd's Florida Roadstar Orange" enamel under a gray primer with a clearcoat. The color shifted due to the Aqua styrene the kit moulded in. I liked the unexpected color. I had some aftermarket pieces to use, so I incorporated them into this build, such as a turned peep mirror by my pal Chad Shapiro, a set of Detail Master photoetch and aluminum "Billet Specialties" wheels, which I polished with some Wenol aluminum polish, and a Model Car Garage '50 Ford PU Photoetch scripts. For the drivetrain, I adapted the 5.0 Liter V8 and 5-speed Manual from the Monogram 1993 Mustang Cobra, with a billet air cleaner, and engine wiring from my parts box. To get it down into the weeds, I spliced the fron half of the chassis from the Mustang, along with the radiator and driveshaft, which I lengthened and indexed. The exhaust pipes are aluminum tubing, with motorcycle style megaphone mufflers. The bed was tubbed to fit the tall rear tires, utilizing 2 halves of a film canister. I was suprised that all of this fit under the body the way it did. It took quite a while, but it came out pretty good in my opinion. Another reason for finishing the build, I needed a nice flathead for my upcoming 49 Mercury Woody project, which is going to be started soon as I get the surfboards and roof rack form Replicas and Miniatures.

See for yourself. It looks pretty good to me, and I'm going to use one on mine when I build it. -
That is nice!!!

You should contact them concerning the body. I am not sure if it is still in production. I have the original kit in my collection. I really dig the suicide door Lincolns. I built these years ago, and will build more when I can.

I like that. I have a few of those, including an Original Annual, that I have yet to build. I even took the liberty to cut the roof off of one of them.

Thanks, John. People keep telling me that I do not build Kustoms. I love them, and I plan to do a few more in the near future. This one was a labor of love, as I planned it out well in advance, and just built it, which took me about 2 weeks time, if my memory serves me, as I built it back in about 1993. I knew what I wanted when I started it, and fortunately everything worked out perfectly. One day, I will build something to bookend it. Thanks everyone for the responses.

Rob, That one came out very nice!!!! I have one that has been under construction forever. I cannot decide on the exterior color.

J.C., I am loving this build, as I love Porsches. If I had the cash, I would have a new 911 Turbo Cabriolet. I remember the 914's when they were new, and your model is a great replica.
