1990 BMW 850i-------Update! She's now clearcoated! 6/19/16
Ron Hamilton replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking good so far Bill. I did go and look at the one-on one 850i after the NNL, and unfortunately, the lot was closed, and I could not get into the car, but I looked it over, and while it is a used car, it is in decent shape. It is Dark Blue, with a Beige interior. A little bland for my tastes, but none the less, a nice car. The hood as a black rubber weather strip on its leading edge, I guess to aid in engine compartment sealing and aerodynamics. It looks like a sunroof gasket, about 3/8" thick and 1/8" proud of the hood. It's kind of strange to me, and I am not going to sweat it on my build. I took a few photos of the car. For some strange reason when I take photos with my phone, I have a problem with Photobucket as it acts as if the pictures has a virus in them, so I am not downloading them for now. I am going back to my camera until I can get things sorted out. I have a couple of projects ahead of this one, but looking at yours may move it up in the queue. -
John, All I can say that this one is drop dead gorgeous. When I was a little tyke, my dad had a '58 Impala Hardtop, Sierra Gold, with the gold interior, 4-Bars, and Foxcraft Skirts. It was a new car at the time, which he traded it in for the Red Bonneville, after he replaced that dreaded Turboglide. I have both an AMT, and a Revell to do the car with. When I was a teenager, a fellow who lived around the block from me had a Black convertible, that he bought from a fellow who lived around the corner. When the first man had it, I was pretty nice, when he kept it clean, and the only customization he did to it was that he dyed the tri tone turquoise/silver/charcoal vinyl inserts in the seats white, and two toned the steering wheel black and white, which looks great with the Black interior, and the White Rag Top. When He sold it, the last owner of the car dyed the inserts black, as the seat inserts were a little dingy. The car got driven right into the ground, and it was towed away with a sick 283 and a blown Powerglide. I have yet to do a true Replica Stock '58, as the three that I have built so far has some sort of customization done to it. I like where you are going with this one. It looks similar to the hardtop I did about 20 years ago. It's still in my collection, as it was one of the first models of mine that was featured in a Magazine. It's still on the shelf, needing a little dusting off. I cannot wait until there is some color on this one.

I like the triple black car. Several years ago, I did a resin '60 Eldorado. I do not want to hijack your thread, but if you want me to show it to you, I will be happy to. I shaved the emblems from mine, and I created a '60 interior from the photos I saw in the Cadillac brochure, as my trans kit looked a lot like yours. I am going to do one of my '61 Fleetwoods before the end of the year, as I have the paint to do it in.

Aaron, I am really interested in your project, as I have one of these to do myself. I bought a glue-bomb '63 a few years ago, and started the process of cleaning it up. I stripped it, and now it is in primer. I am considering either removing the side moulding entirely, or Re-doing them, as I am going to do it as a day 2 truck, with an upgraded interior with tuck and roll, and a Grant wood, or flake steering wheel. The big wheels are there as a placeholder, as I am leaning towards either a set of reverse rim steelies with Ford Dog dishes, a set of Supremes, or a set of Raders on pin whites. I have to get this one done, as it will be a tow rig for a Ford Race car I plan to do for next year's Mid Atlantic NNL. Thank you for posting yours, as it will get my creative juices flowing. I am quite sure that your build will be great!!!!

Posting Your Build on the Other Guy’s Thread
Ron Hamilton replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am the person Uncle Scott is talking about, and I am not the only person who has a picture of a model here on the signature line. Scott, I know you are tired of seeing my model of my late father's Bonneville as my signature, and you know my feelings concerning the matter. Until the administrator of the board makes the request to me to remove it, then you know the rest. How about I do the following, I can stop posting if it is offensive to the people here on the board. I have been here a long time, and I have been mostly positive, but the comments on my signature is not the primary subject of the thread, but your pet peeve. Concerning the thread, I try to not post a picture of one of my modeling projects on someone else's thread, unless, they ask for an example of how I did a particular build. Concerning my threads, if someone has a comment, I invite them to chime in with opinions, suggestions, and photos of their model of the same, or similar subject. We are all friends here. -
I'm skeered!!!!!!

I love the chassis, with your normal excellent detail. I'm waiting to see what you do with the body and paint.

Both of those are very nice!!!! -
Nice work, but the engine in the car is not a 396, but a 327. A very nice 327. Also, don't forget the headlamp lenses.

Wonderful!!!! It takes me back to my childhood when I got my first Hot Wheels for Xmas 1968.

Beautiful!!!! I have an AMT '65 Corvette body, that has a busted windshield frame in my "got to be done section. I want to combine it with the Revell '67, and do it as a 327/375 Fuelie car.

Like what Harry Said, Very nice. I have in my collection, an original Annual and a Tiger Box AMT '65 in my stash. After looking at yours, I will have to build mine. Mine will be Iris Mist, with a Back Vinyl Roof, and a White interior.

If I am not mistaken, The Lindberg "Little Red Wagon" Dodge A 100 Pickup kit has a 273 in it. I am not sure about the transmission. I have several slants in my parts stash for several projects. -
It has finally arrived. Now I go to work.

If you can get your hands on a Revell 37 Ford (1/24) scale, you will have a nice set of Cragar S/S wheels.. -
How About Some Stalled Projects?
Ron Hamilton replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love the '57 Fords. Years ago, I converted an AMT '57 Hardtop into a mild custom convertible. I have a All American Resin '57 Country Squire Trans Kit, which I have not started, but I have all the parts to complete, and a Jimmy Flintstone Resin '57 Country Sedan to do, which I started on, using the rest of the parts from a Glue-bombed Revell Ranchero as the base. That Falcon is pretty tasty too, as I have a '66 Promo that I took apart, and a '69 Built-up, that I plan to do as a factory skunkworks car, with the guts from an AMT '69 Cobra. -
