  1. Are you sure that the cat did step on the hood? They have been known to do that. Glad to help with the air cleaner. I have a dilapidated '64 Olds convertible I would like to resurrect. It is styrene, and not resin. I have a couple of ideas for a quick, cheap restoration. I have to strip the Testors' yellow brush paint off of it, and re-create the windshield header.
  2. Wow! You achieved your mission, and then some!
  3. When I built my convertible, I just foiled over the 442 Emblems after paint, and painted the details. The pitfalls I noticed with this kit is that the bucket seats are not shaped correctly for the "strato" bucket seats used by GM during this era. I had a spare pair of "strato" buckets from another AMT kit, so I carefully cut the upholstery from the center of the seat, and mated it to the seat backs. In the case of the hardtop, I do not like the way that AMT handled the side window profile, as it is too rounded at the side windows. The Revell '66 GTO has a correct roof, so I am going to use it as a guide to re-do the side window profile. This is a great kit, as it has a great chassis, an up-top that actually fits, and a well detailed back seat area. I bought a few extra when it was easily available, as I want to use it as a basis for a ;66 GTO, and a '66 SS396 convertible. I may use the "bones" of this kit to build an accurate '66 Skylark GS Hardtop from a built-up that I am restoring.
  4. You move fast Al. Very Nice. I cleaned up an original glue-bomb. I may contact ML for the vacuum formed glass and a dash, and I can work mine over.
  5. Yabba! Dabba! Dooooo!
  6. Thank you Chris. I started on mine last week, and I like the kit. I do not see many pitfalls in the build.
  7. My best friend's dad had a '69 Kingswood Estate with the 396, and just about every option Chevy would put on it. What a torque monster.
  8. I took a few pictures of that car at Carlisle. Very interesting!!!!
  9. In the future, I am planning to do a '66 Wildcat Gran Sport Convertible from the AMT '66 Hardtop, and I plan to re-create the '66 bucket seat Interior, including the dash. I am thinking Dark Teal with a Turquoise Interior.
  10. Nice car, but I got a better story than that. When I was in elementary school, I used to pass by the local fire house every once in a while, to look at the fire engines, hang with the firemen, and slide down the pole( when they let me), and they had received a new Fire Chief's cruiser. That year (1971), Washington, D.C. used 383 powered Plymouth Fury l sedans. They were 4-barrell cars with dual exhausts, which had that familiar rumble that sounded great. Anyway, the Fire Chief's car was a 1971 Suburban Wagon, which was red, with a black interior. Strange thing about it, it had 440 emblems on the front fenders. At the time I happened by, the car was just delivered to the fire house, and the Firemen were checking out the car. The Chief was obviously a car enthusiast, and absolutely giddy about the car. He told me it was the first Chief's car delivered that year, and he thought that something was a little strange about the car. He popped the hood, and there was a 440-Six Pack motor under the hood. From what I understand, the 440 Six Pack was available on the Sport Fury GT in 1970 and 1971, and I would venture to say that very few were built, if any. I have never seen one. Anyway, a few weeks later, I ventured by the firehouse, and when I asked how the car performed, the Chief told me that the Fleet department ordered the car back, and had a 4 Barrell setup installed on the car, as the car was not supposed to be equipped with the Six Pack setup. He said it was fun while it lasted, even though the car was an absolute gas hog, and ran with a rough idle. Back in the day, Firemen had some nice equipment!
  11. You did that one justice. It brought back memories of the one I had when they first came out. It was gray with T-Tops.
  12. I was standing behind you when you made that purchase. It is always great to see you!!!!!
  13. Great work as usual J.C.
  14. My uncle had a Red '65 Sport Fury Hardtop, which I never saw in person, as he lived in CA and I in DC. He absolutely loved the car.
  15. Good luck on finding a '65 Fury Convertible Bill. I have a '65, a '68, and a '67 , which I turned into a convertible. The brittle JoHan Styrene practically guaranteed that the windshield frame would be broken off, and in the case of my '67, the roof had a huge, un-repairable crack and twist in it, and some tire burn, so I turned it into a convertible. They are ultra rare. I have had the '65 for almost 20 years, and I started work on it last year. I am leaning towards doing it as a Pace Car, as I took a lot of photos of one at Chryslers at Carlisle, and that was my original plan for the car. If not a Pace Car, It will still be White with the Blue Interior, as I like that color combination the most on that particular car..
  16. Excellent work!!!!!
  17. Over the years I have been building, I have been fortunate enough to have been able to get 95% of the kits I wanted, and I have quite a few waiting in line to be built, or restored, as I am not afraid to work over a glue-bomb if I deem it restorable. In the case of the MPC '68 Firebird, the interior was changed to the '68 Custom Interior. I have one that I bought as a glue-bomb. I was able to clean it up, and it is awaiting its turn to be rebuilt. I have what is left of an AMT '66 Barracuda promo, which I will be able to resurrect into something decent, and I have a '66 and 2 '67 Cyclones. I sold off my '67 Fords.
  18. Replicas and Miniatures Co. of MD had the Westcraft Boat from the '64 El Camino in their line. I have one for my '64 El Camino.
  19. Cooooooool!!!!
  20. That Blue-Charcoal on the '66 is a sharp color. I restored a '66 in Turquoise, with a black interior.
