I had a 1950 Ford convertible I did years ago in gold. Made a Carson top from the half top , and the convertible top front half. Looked nice...but after a while looking at the same car with all the custom parts, and the large oversized fender skirts {what was I thinking ?} Well I got it tore apart. Removed those big round taillights. Smaller skirts, found the bumpers, and brackets. Repainted the roof.Just have to repair damage to the rear taillight panel. The interior has to be stripped of paint yet. It's at least in primer. That's when I feel that I've accomplished something, don't you ?

One of the resin companies is working one a stock Maverick. with interior ,and both grille bumpers, and glass. interior will be separate item they're making.

I had someone help me one this. Thought I'd pass it along. I got a 65/66 Ford that came in red plastic. I didn't want the color to show through the final color. A guy suggested painting it a light coat of flat black first after sanding, then primer,then the final color. Found out this works for any body that molded in any color. White it's usually not a problem. It works very well. Just thought it might help someone.

Would that Monogram T be a better choice ? I know one was gold plated, and one was chrome parts ? It was 1/24 th I think ?

First off I haven't been here in a long time. I am a retired over the road owner/operator truck driver . I am 71 years young ,and the only surviving member left of the three that started the "Meet & Greet " model car club in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We meet at restaurants that allow us, swap building tips, parts. I build 50s customs from magazines. Lately ones from TV shows .I just got a new laptop, and learning how to post pictures here. I also race R/C cars when there is a track open. I am married, and have three adult step-kids ,and grand kids. I try an go to the NNL in Detroit once a year. We take a load of guys across the state to make a day of it. I haven't entered that many contest, but show my cars at the local car shows on the table. I enjoy seeing all the builds done here.

Any suggestions? Been building for years. This one would be a challenge I think. This had a 283 ,3 speed manual,57 Oldsmobile rear end. What parts of kits would be used ? Thanks

I also have model club guys giving me parts cars, old builds to rebuild .As well as my own old builds I have done years ago. It is nice to see the work here.

I was given this as a parts truck. Had to modify the firewall, and the engine dropped right in. It even has single exhaust for the Sleeper look. The give away is the license plates. "396" on the front, and" Big Block" on the rear.

Scott was the founding starter for the "Meet & Greet" club. Our first meeting was with "Spooter" aka Paul Spolhof,and my self. We set up the ground rules. "No judging allowed of others builds",and "you must bring one,or more to display to each meeting if possible,even if it was under construction". Then the guys on their own started swapping parts,or donating parts they didn't need. We started only using a small table at the resturant...now it has gotten so big...the display table ended up being on the pool table in the resturant ! Scott was the one who would get the dates the guys chose,and he was the one who called the resturant,and set up the date with them. Scott,and his ife Sandy let us use their basement a lot. He would also help guys in their builds. He was into building "Pro-Street" builds. He challenged me to get out of my 50s "custom" builds,and do a "Pro-Street" build. I ended up doing a 60 Ford. It was hard for me not to put on fender skirts,and wide whites ! LOL! This shows what a big part of our club hewas.He will be missed.

I was sent them by someone. If I remember right the flairs came from a Toyota Supra. I couldn't believe how easy they fit.The rears was the only ones that needed any filing to fit the curve of the body. I had to open up the wheel openings,but it was because of the 50 series tires I used. You need good traction in the corners,right?

This screams 60's,I want one now.What kit is it?
No it not a kit.It was made from evergreen sheet. The only parts from a kit is the Big Block Chevy,and the Ala Kart fenders.This was my insperation. There is a resin kit made of this I've seen.

I'm still working on my garage. I used a rear section from a Revell 55 Chevy,and a fromt seat,and the grill is a gas tank from the Revell 55 cut in half. The legs an grill are paper clp. Large size for legs,and small size for grill.

Here is my first attempt. I painted it yellow to start,the a light coat of black wash,the transparent orange.the more coats you add the darker it gets. I liked it this way so I left it as is. I can always add more transparent later. The sun sure brought out the yellow, it's not really this bright yellow. "Let's go Surfin'"!

Just a comment here from my side of the room.? I have found that not everyone builds the same type of car, truck. We have a challenge in our club on occasion...that is to build out of your comfort zone. Well they challenged me to build a Pro-street fully street legal build. For a guy who does 50s customs...wide white ,and fender skirts, and hot rods. THAT was a challenge ! It was a 1960 Ford. What is nice is I don't build sports cars ,Indy cars ,antiques, and race cars very often. The guys in the club knowing I'm a Chevy, Ford guy challenged me by giving me some Mopar to do. I find swapping parts for the projects that you do need, and help someone else for what they need.. works out well for everyone. Speech over.. now go back to building ! LOL!
