Nice job on both of those, Ron. Charlie Larkin

I have a couple of the Monogram Cords, and a Pyro issue (now Lindberg.) This did come out very nicely. I'll agree the Pyro kit can look good with a little effort and time. The Monogram, does, however, seem to have a little more proportional accuracy. I'd love to see the Cord and Auburn re-done to thoroughly modern tooling standards. Two of the all-time greats of American automotive design deserve better representation than what we have now. Very nice work on this. Charlie Larkin

Now, this story ought to be very interesting! Charlie Larkin

64 Belvedere Station Wagon " W/Digger and Trailer"
charlie8575 replied to Mopar - D's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Excellent. Charlie Larkin -
Interesting. Very different. It has multiple things in its favor. It's a wagon and it's a different one at that. To make sure I'm understanding correctly, was your car sold new in New Zealand? Charlie Larkin

1959 Chevy Impala----Just a tease! 4/9/16

And I'm happy if I can simply get the thing together and it looks nice.... Talk about "sometimes you raise the bridge, sometimes you lower the river" with those seats. You're doing both?! Bill, you make us all proud to be modelers; it's the guys like you that raise this to an art form in its truest sense. Charlie Larkin -
Looks good, Rich. That'll make a nice background for your models. Charlie Larkin

Builders block

What's been stopping me aside from a very painful leg that actually makes it hard to concentrate on anything aside from pain, is the weather. With it being this cold around here, it's difficult to do much of anything, especially painting. Even the house isn't that warm, and when combined with no place to work comfortably (sciatica is awful; I really wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy,) it's made doing much a bit difficult. Bunch of other stuff has been occupying me, too, like Grad Degree #2, getting my business functional, and still looking for at least a part-time job to keep a little income coming in. When you're like this, building is tough. Charlie Larkin -

The wagon at Schmitt's is exquisite. I might change the color to green or blue, but that's basically the direction I plan on taking mine in. Dave- some very interesting cars. I liked the cadet blue car with the blackwalls. There was something that seems very...authentic, for want of a better word (and not one so horrendously overused) about that car that I liked a lot. Very nicely done. Love the custom white interior- the buckets were black-only in '70, but that's proof they should've done the white interior. It looks really good with the Burgundy Mist. Charlie Larkin

Let's see, what have I gotten over the last week or so....? A really bad case of sciatica- one of the reasons you've not seen me much the last couple of weeks aside from funky computer. I can't sit or stand too long, or I get REALLY sore. I also get like that if I try something novel...like sleeping. So, it's been lots of cat naps and weird sleep pattern. We got another foot of snow Thursday night and Friday morning. And we're getting another 4-6" this evening and into early Sunday. Yay. On the bright side, I had a (very) small settlement check from a class action suit come in. I might go grab one or two small items for fun this weekend. Charlie Larkin

Are those self-stick tags, Tom, or the put-in-a-sleeve type? Charlie Larkin

Very nice, Dan. Did that come with an interior? What are you using for a chassis? Charlie Larkin

Bill is once again making many of us ask why we even bother! Great work, Bill, and it's really good to have you back. Charlie Larkin -
1957 Ford Custom Tudor (yes, another one)

Pretty. I do like that color on that car. Charlie Larkin -
OUCH! Literally and otherwise! Hopefully, the next round will work better, John. Charlie Larkin

The video with the recreation of a 100-year-old hybrid car was also quite interesting. Neat find, Cato. This, however, is what's making me smile! http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/01/26/big-boy-steam-locomotive-begins-trip-from-california-to-wyoming-will-return-to/?intcmp=obnetwork Steam will again rule- even if just for tourist trips. No kidding. I watched mainly for the ads (not a big football fan,) but even the most casual of observers had to be impressed with the compelling performance offered by the Seahawks. Very well done. Charlie Larkin

Interesting note about the casting joint....oops, I sanded mine. Oh well. Next time. That's actually a nice color on that- I think it was a T-Bird color mainly, but I know Ford would do special-order paint for a small extra charge, so a standard Ford or two built in that color is quite possible. I wish I could still get Duco here. PPG is nice paint, but I remember using a tiny amount of Duco once, and it was nice. Charlie Larkin -

That most certainly is, Ed. I'm guessing from the description at Historic Portland, these things used some kind of gantry-elevator mechanism? This would be a very cool way to display plenty of cars in a somewhat limited space, even if you just did one side. Anyone have pictures of the elevator from this or something similar? From what I understand, something very similar to this is still used in Manhattan and perhaps one other area of New York City. If anyone has more information, please share. Charlie Larkin
