Wooden coffee stirrers for clapboard....that's a good idea. This will be very nice when it's done. Charlie Larkin

Great job on the garage. Talk about forlorn looking. Charlie Larkin

Amazing how time slips by....

Interesting. My friends in livery service with Town Cars never had that kind of problem. Perhaps a different kind of operation environment (not as much idling, more reasonable speeds, etc.)? I do know of a few Town Cars that would start smoking, but it would take in excess of 500,000 indicated miles for that to start happening. Charlie Larkin -
The chip-gaurd came out nicely, Mike. This is shaping up well. Charlie Larkin

I remember seeing a list somewhere of the cars with special-order colors. One was painted Mediterranean Blue, which I intend to do. A few were done in Hunter Green (which was my second choice), and I think one was done in Desert Rose. At least one or two of the other greens were also used. Hunter Green has been documented as a factory special order and would probably be acceptable. Otherwise, I do like Regimental Red. If they finally do a New Yorker, I would seriously be tempted to build it in that color two-toned with black. Charlie Larkin

I don't think Monogram ever did this one; I don't ever remember seeing one mentioned. Too bad, if it's like their other Classics, it would be a really nice kit, I'll bet. Charlie Larkin

I have a Pyro issue from what appears to be the original 1955 run of this kit. Even as a new kit, it needed...help. The molds haven't aged well and it's a challenge, but you seem to be off to a good start. Work slowly, consider your next move carefully, and never lose sight of the end goal of quality workmanship and something you'll enjoy seeing on the shelf. Charlie Larkin

Remember Sledge-O-Matic? I'd like to introduce you to its closely-related product...Idiot-O-Matic! Charlie Larkin

The chassis cleaned up nicely. Charlie Larkin

That interior is a beautiful color combination and very nicely done. The Vallejo black primer almost looks good enough to use as a finish coat for s/g black parts. If you don't want to have to wait for mail-order, Spare Time Shop in Marlborough is now carrying Vallejo, as is Hobby Empourium in Tyngsborough. STS offers 10% off on paint to MassCar members. I'll look forward to seeing this in a couple of weeks at the meeting. Coming to New York on Saturday for LIARS? Charlie Larkin

I like the Studebaker, but that boat is spectacular. Excellent work. Charlie Larkin

Wow, is that green! Looks like it would be a really nice shade outside under natural lighting. Very nicely done updating, Alan. Charlie Larkin

Reissued kits
charlie8575 replied to slantasaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd also like to the other Monogram Classics reissued. There are so many cool kits out there, that I could go on for pages, but the Museum Piece Monograms would be a great start, along with some of the AMT annuals we haven't seen in a long time (like the one-and-dones, which was so many of them). Pics from BAYCON 2013 yesterday...
charlie8575 replied to Terry Sumner's topic in Contests and Shows
Sorry I wasn't able to make it down yesterday, my car has not been behaving well at all the last several months, and I try to avoid long trips, at least until I can get it sorted out. Good to see you're getting out and about again, Terry. We'll hopefully see you in March at MassCar.C Charlie Larkin -
Never been much of a football fan; when I was in high school, I'd go to the games to back my friends and take pictures for the yearbook, and when I taught, I'd go to a game every so often to support the kids, but I'm not much into it. I did see some of the highlights on the news...and yes, they did do a thorough job of putting Pittsburgh in their place, didn't they? Side-note: one of my friends from high school is now their chief legal counsel. He was a football player and I'll bet short of being on the field, that this is his dream job. Charlie Larkin

Pat, because Krylon seems to have changed its paint as much as most people change undergarments in the last couple of years, could you please post a picture of the primer can you prefer and the one to avoid if you still have it? Is this the stuff that's available at Wal-Mart or should I plan on going to one of the Ace/True Value stores or an industrial supplier? Charlie Larkin
