  1. Stupidity never sleeps. I was kind of hoping there was some video to go along with this, but there isn't. The victim: a 2012 Honda Civic. Cause is believed to be a spark from the remote control popping the trunk. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2013/01/27/car-explosion-rocks-parking-lot-in-stoneham/ Charlie Larkin
  2. Just submitted my order for correct tires. Let's see what happens. Charlie Larkin
  3. Nice work on those, Nick. Charlie Larkin
  4. Now this will be cool. I love seeing antique plastic getting built. Charlie Larkin
  5. Hmmm...okay. Either: 1. A Biscayne, I'm guessing a 2-door unless you want to try and convert MCW's body into a 4-door. 2. I revert to my other statement and ponder that you're somehow going to come up with a Strato-Cief or Laurentian. I'd imagine at least one or two places in Canada used Pontiacs for cruisers. Charlie Larkin
  6. A 1962 Corvette. The Delcotron (alternator) didn't get a factory installation until 1963. Barring that...a Canadian Pontiac? Charlie Larkin
  7. This will be fun to watch, as all your builds are, Ken. Charlie Larkin
  8. Very nice work, Randy. Charlie Larkin
  9. Wouldn't soaking drywall in water weaken and ruin the gypsum? Interesting idea. We'll have a small amount of rennovation coming up. Perhaps I can try it with a little piece of scrap. Charlie Larkin
  10. Forgot about this. Perhaps next year. In any event, I ended up busy yesterday, so I couldn't. I wonder if perhaps MassCar could do this as a club thing next year? Charlie Larkin
  11. *Drool* I don't think Wixom ever turned out one that shiny. Charlie Larkin
  12. Nice fabrication, Fred. How much arm-twisting would it take to get you to have someone cast it? I'd buy one simply for something totally different. This might help you with some details. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Ford/1979_Ford/1979_Ford_LTD_II_Folder/dirindex.html http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Ford/1977_Ford/1977_Ford_LTD_II_Brochure/dirindex.html Charlie Larkin
  13. Wow. I agree with John. If that body/interior were to be cast, I'd buy one in a second. Valiants rule. Charlie Larkin
  14. Nice bit of drama added. I've been using the clear parts cement, too, and I like it very much. I wish I could figure out how to get a couple of cars disassembled without damage to fix some windows where Elmer's didn't quite work. Charlie Larkin
  15. The early production run had kits with copious quantities of "flash," or excess plastic, and very heavy mold lines. The coupe I have, which is pretty early-production, has a body with such heavy mold-lines that it's almost un-buildable without excessive sanding. That will be receiving a Motor City sedan conversion. The rest of the kit, though, is very nice. And with the quality control corrected, I say it's a good kit. Charlie Larkin
  16. Bill, would these parts allow me to build a rep-stock '32 using the Revell kits? I've always heard such nice things about them, but the whole rod thing doesn't really light my fire. Charlie Larkin
  17. I would be VERY careful with Scalecoat on resin. I do remember Don Holthuas cautioning against its use, at least on his resin. I have used with reasonable success, oven cleaner and Whestley's, on resin for stripping paint, enamel and lacquer alike. The trick is to work quickly with it, especially the oven cleaner. I haven't tried SuperClean, but I imagine it would be okay, try a piece of scrap first to be sure. Side-note, is Shawn Carpenter still casting? I remember he had some pretty neat stuff. Charlie Larkin
  18. Let's see....sedan, Holiday, club sedan.... I'm going to go broke! And love every second of it. Charlie Larkin
  19. I'll give you credit for creativity, that's for sure! I always liked those '89-92 Rivieras. Nice looking cars, and a vast improvement over the 1986-88 "anonymous-mobiles" all the E-bodies became for that design cycle. Charlie Larkin
  20. I'd combine D, E, and F. Make it a family affair. Very nice job. Where did you find the reel mower? Charlie Larkin
  21. I must say, it's shaping up rather nicely Nick. Charlie Larkin
  22. And making it into a Town Victoria? Are you going to get this cast, Bruce? Charlie Larkin
  23. One thing I am curious about...were those yellow high-beams ever allowed in the U.S., or did you set it as exported to France? Charlie Larkin
  24. Thank heavens, especially with that last one... Charlie Larkin
  25. EMT/Paramedic/firefighter is a safe, stable career that will give you a lifetime of satisfaction. I have several friends in both fields and they LOVE their work. Agreed. Good luck to you, Chris. Remember, in public service, the public must always come first. Charlie Larkin
