  1. I.....I.....I..... Wow. Charlie Larkin
  2. At school today, not one mention was made of it. With no offense to the younger members here intended, as most of you boys (and perhaps a girl or two who stays in the shadows,) are, from my experiences in interacting with you, much more engaged and willing and able to learn about things, the kids in the classes I covered today couldn't care a whit about anything other than themselves. They have NO understanding or concern for their history, how we got to where we are or those presently serving. I wish I could figure out how to teach them an indellible lesson so that they will understand. Charlie Larkin
  3. So they're now requiring drug tests to work in a hobby shop? A sad day. Charlie Larkin
  4. Wow, that came out nice, Sam. Very good job on that, and definitely a build to be proud of. Charlie Larkin
  5. I wouldn't mind if my driveway looked something like that. Your work is always a treat to see. Charlie Larkin
  6. Larry, welcome aboard. This is a nice community and generally a very supportive group of modelers. You have many excellent builders, such as Bill Geary, Terry Jesse, Brad Norgaard, Bill Engwer and a host of others. And those cars...wow! The California climate has been nice to them. From the black plate on your 4-door, I'm guessing you've owned that since the 1960s or so- whenever they stopped issuing the black plate? I love that Club Sedan. A few years ago, had I had the money, I could have purchased a Vermont barn-find 76 Club Sedan in Crest Blue. I've thought of tracking the fellow down that had it and seeing if he still might now that I'm starting to get a little work rolling back in. Thanks for sharing your information with us. We really do appreciate it. I am curious about one thing- the little keeper-strips that line up the ignition cables that bolt into the valve covers. The kit calls out gold as the color, and some cars I've seen pictures of, at least to my eye, look more yellow. Which is right? Again, welcome. And we'll help you spend your modeling time well. Charlie Larkin
  7. Shhhh....don't give him any more ideas, he'll leave us all in the dust again! I kid, I kid.... Charlie Larkin
  8. Someone went crazy with that smoke-flavour additive you can get at the grocery store? Just sayin'... Charlie Larkin
  9. Thanks for the heads-up, BK. As time elapses, I'll grab at least 2-3 more. One for Tom's sedan, another for the Holiday I believe one of the resin casters is working on, and one to try the fastback conversion with. Charlie Larkin
  10. Let's see, this weekend.... A new set of paint brushes- gold-fibre synthetic. Much stiffer than the white nylon, and hopefully, much better quality and easier to clean. A can of Testors flat black paint, a bottle of Tamiya thinner to use with my paint for air-brushing and a new tube of glue. Tomorrow, I intend to purchase a fresh can of Plasti-Kote T-235 primer to replace a can that went missing on me at MassCar. I think someone borrowed it (I'm sure with no malicious intent, but I didn't discover this until I got home.) What really hurts is that it was an almost-new can. Charlie Larkin
  11. I might get one or two done before the end of the year. Otherwise, definitely get more built next year. Charlie Larkin
  12. That's a nice caddy, Alan. Gives me some ideas for building one of my own. Kerry- I like that Catalina El Cam; I could almost see GM doing that. Charlie Larkin
  13. It's also only to be in Europe for now. Whether it makes it here or not remains to be seen. I suspect it will. As to cost...I'm guessing between moderate and high. Those printers, no matter how they work, are still expensive and the costs need to be recovered. Charlie Larkin
  14. No win here, either. Based on the last reported amount ($580 million,) if nobody wins tonight, I'm guessing it'll hit $800 million. Now THAT is worth a ticket or two! Charlie Larkin
  15. Nice first post. Welcome aboard. Charlie Larkin
  16. Very nice looking, Al. The two-tone color scheme works well on the body style. Charlie Larkin
  17. Looks great, Wayne. Very authentic-looking. Charlie Larkin
  18. Olfactory Airs- one of the best modeling stories I've ever heard! Nice article and great feature story. Charlie Larkin
  19. I do know of at least 2-3 people from Connecticut, Nick. There is also a model car (mostly) club somewhere in the New York suburbs of Connecticut. Look up Terry Sumner and Bob Dudek. They'll be able to help you. Charlie Larkin
  20. No green bars, but several SQL errors a week. Whatever that means. Charlie Larkin
  21. Looks nice, Bill. I'm seriously toying with trying this and building a club sedan myself if I can find an acceptable representative of an Olds 6. For curiosity, you were suggesting that the AMT plastic is a bit thicker. How is sanding the two roof sections possible without creating warpage? I'll be watching this. Charlie Larkin
  22. Very nice, Wayne. I wonder if any police departments ran actually ran 88s? They seem like they would've made a good choice for a patrol car. Charlie Larkin
  23. Well, it's official.... One of my closest friends since high school is getting married....before me! Assuming it lasts until next April for the wedding- and such a friend I am, I'm actually giving up NNL-East this year for it, then after the ceremony- KA-BOOM! I, of course, kid. I hope. But I'm still missing NNL-East. Charlie Larkin
  24. Reminds me of the heavyish-duty Nash trucks of the late 1940s. Interesting concept, and I'm sure, done by you, done well. Charlie Larkin
  25. Not exactly what I was expecting- very interesting concept. Charlie Larkin
