  1. The Grand Am and Graham have quite a bit of appeal. Charlie Larkin
  2. Monty, Plasti-Kote is plastic-safe. I've used it for years and haven't had any crazing issues except once and that was my fault (slightly heavy coat.) If you can paint outside, that helps solve that problem. Lacquers also work better in cooler temperatures. Just be sure to warm the can a little under running warm water before going outside so that it doesn't get too cold too quickly. If painting outdoors isn't an option for you, point a large box-fan outside from your cellar, garage or what have you with the door open. It vents out fairly quickly. You could also get a new wife. Charlie
  3. One of the most impressive models I've run across anywhere. Charlie Larkin
  4. That looks great, Geoff. This will be a lovely addition to your shelf when it's finished up. Charlie Larkin
  5. A 52-pound block? Dressed, if that engine exceeds about 150-160 pounds, I'd be surprised. 125 horses (I wonder if they're miniature horses? ) out of that motor is pretty impressive. I wonder what mileage will be like? Charlie Larkin
  6. This is all I have to say to that.... http://www.phonezoo.com/ringtone/196001417/emergency-warning-buzzers-emergency-.htm Oh...and cool. I think I need to grab a few of these vans. Charlie Larkin
  7. I would love a plastic HHR. And those little panel wagon versions of them are cool. If I had a business for which something like that would be appropriate, I'd have bought one in a second. The window version is nice, too. I had one for a rental over New Year's weekend. I liked it a lot. Consistent 30 miles a gallon, decent on the highway, fairly comfortable. Definitely a car I would happily buy. Charlie Larkin
  8. Never would've occurred to me, either, Mike. Cool idea. Charlie Larkin
  9. Dermicil Surgical Tape.....good thing I have friends that work in hospitals. I'll see if someone can grab me a roll if the price is within reason. We also have a small hospital pharmacy here in town. Looks like I know what a little bit of next paycheck is going towards. Charlie Larkin
  10. Correctness not withstanding, that color looks very right on that car. Nice job on it. Charlie Larkin
  11. Excellent work on all of this. I say go with reverse chromies for the rims. Charlie Larkin
  12. I'll bet that would move right along. Nice details; you might want to either dust off the camera lens or your model, though. Charlie Larkin
  13. That's a sharp car, Mike. That metallic brown looks enough like some stage of fade for the copper shade that was offered that it's quite reasonable. I like this, and the story. Charlie Larkin
  14. Looking good. Here's to a speedy and full recovery. Charlie Larkin
  15. Not today, but Wednesday I grabbed a few odds and ends. A Lindberg 1929 Mercedes SSK. Another "C" Classic for my collection. The last can of Model Master Colors by Boyd Pacific Blue spray paint. This is a good match for 1950s-early 60s Pontiac V8s. A jar of Acryl Flat White to use for mixing with some Acryl Radome Tan I grabbed at the Baycon show last a couple of weeks ago; for $1/jar, I grabbed a few jars of colors I wanted or thought I might need. The flat white/Radome Tan are suggested for portions of the interior on the Moebius Chrysler 300. Charlie Larkin
  16. I like this. I almost bought a Citation in college with the V6. Very slow....the Celebrity we had with the same V6, for whatever reason, performed a lot better. That aside, it was actually a pretty nice car. For curiosity's sake, any idea where those Uniroyal tires came from? I might go scrounging for a set myself. Charlie Larkin
  17. Came out very nicely. I think I'm going to try that pin bit for the side-markers on my Revell Charger. Oh, and I watched Sledge Hammer because I was 11 and laughed my head off. Charlie Larkin
  18. Anyone that uses a reference from one of the funniest shows I ever saw is fine with me. And it's become one of my favorite lines, too. For your amusement... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8S-_hHH76Fk&feature=related Charlie Larkin
  19. Sometimes, I wonder why I even bother when I see this stuff. This is incredible beyond words. Charlie Larkin
  20. I've generally found Plasti-Kote at CarQuest stores. VIP Discount Auto Parts also carries it locally to New England. Pep Boys used to carry it. Occasionally, I do see Plasti-Kote sandable lacquer primer at either Michael's or A.C. Moore (I can't remember which right now,) which is essentially their automotive primer, but a shade thinner and at about half the price. Interesting tip about the Al-Clad primer. I might try a bottle of that. Charlie Larkin
  21. Such a remarkable introduction for such an average car. I have to admit, it was pretty cool to watch, though. Charlie Larkin
  22. Nick, you've made A LOT of progress. This is more proof of that. Absolutely fantastic job. Charlie Larkin
  23. Absolutely beautiful, Tom. The six makes it so much more unique, as well as the color and trim. Is that rack a kit part or did you make or scavenge that from somewhere else? Charlie Larkin
  24. Nice, Bob. The silver/black does very good on that, I must agree. About the only thing I might have done differently is the interior color- brown tones with silver and gray always looked a bit odd to me. Regardless, well done. Charlie Larkin
  25. This looks great Chris. What did you use to paint/tint/annodize the aluminum? All these brick scenes are inspiring me. I'm seriously considering doing something of this nature myself. Charlie Larkin
