Just a little info Reliable Resin offers a 88-93 LX convertible,if you feel your in over your head and also their have been threads about their service and i'm not starting one just passing along some info, good luck on your build.
Thank you for the info, where did you find it? I searched the site and found nothing. I for one never received what I ordered from them (it was foxbody pieces) so would rather not buy from them but I may have to once I get in over my head
-
It just seemed like low mileage to need a resto.
It kinda is but lacking proper care, cover, stripe to drag race and so on. Plus it being 80s tech even the 0 mile foxbodies need this done sooner or later
-
Thanks kruleworld
Why would a car with only 60K need to be restored?
The car has had a few owners one wanted to drag race it so it had a crazy motor and rear end in it. That was removed to put stock stuff in it. Car needed bumper covers too the. Caught some hail damage so new paint was a must. Stock suspension was getting worn out so all that was swapped to new stuff with OEM thunderbird super coupe lowering springs. Interior was changed to stuff that was in better shape. So basicly it's a new old car that I now daily drive.
I'll happily answer anymore questions

so about a month ago i bought a 93 LX vert from my brother. car has 60k original miles and restored from top to bottom. so today i picked up a 92 GT vert kit and begain to start the lx conversion.
here my 1:1 vert to show what im shooting for
rear quick info on car.
color is bright calypso green, gray GT high back seats, stylin bar, valve covers and pullys color matched
so anyway heres my kit so far
stylin bar came from a 98 Saleen S281 kit i had laying around might have to raise it to make it look right
as you can see i have a long way to go, might paint the wheels white tomorrow just to get the feel of the car, only thing im really missing is LX front bumper and LX tail lights. so if any one has LX parts please let me know
im going to try to update this as much as i can i am no where near the best modeler but i do try
questions/ comments welcome
so thanks for looking
-
You are correct Rick. I was going off what the box said. I think revell changed the box in the past few years

Saleen supercahrged 4.6 in 64 thunderbolt
-
i started this project originally as a copy of a friends dads 1:1 thunderbolt but got bored with the stock style. so i found a saleen S281SC kit and slammed the drive train and suspension in it. not sure what else to say about it
better pics coming tomorrow
so thanks for looking

This is the first Rear-mount turbo system I've seen in Scale. And it looks good!
Here is a great reference for this type of stuff - Squires turbo Systems - Kind of the 'pioneers' if you will, of Rear mount Turbos for the street.
thanks man, i wish i could have found that when i was building it, the 05 GT twin kit is the one this model is based off, but i only had the rear end shot to work with. thanks for giving me that link. might need to do a rebuild with the KR kit
-
thanks guys
What kind of exaust is thatt?Looks like Turbo's butt how can it work? Why do the pipes go togther like one? Were does the air go in?-Bye the tale pipe's? My dad show'd me Turbo's pictures butt that is not the same. Thanks JIMMY!
I have it set up kinda funny, I technically have the turbos on backwards, but I didn't realize it till it was to late to fix it but there are 2 air filters on the back of the turbo between the rear axle and the turbo. The filters are black so there hard to see

well i very rarely finish projects (or post here) but i finished one
had a 1980 turbo cobra kit that i did without the decals
painted a GT-H shell then put the decals on it
that was 6 months ago
grabbed the shell found all my spare parts from 4 different kits and here we are
continue in next post
-
thats awesome, reminds me of something i saw on google of parnelli jones' BOSS
-
the car started life as you would expect, then i messed up on part of it and its been sitting for like 2 years. needed the roof for a different project so the convertible was born
ive been toying with that to do with it for a few days now and thought why not do a V6 looking car with out the V6 in it
so here she is
not a true Y pipe but it works
power plant. hence the sleeper part.
wheels will be the bullitt II from the GT-H kit if i can find the 2 missing ones if not it will have the KR wheels once i get the kit
stay tuned
thanks

If you want some nice off road tires, check these out:
http://public.fotki.com/cnaind/truck-tires--wheels/off-road--pickup-tires/
He posts on the forum and shows his work.
thanks man, ill have to see what might fit the truck better
-
thanks guys, i used tamiya matte black for the shell and other tamiya colors for the inside. i dont really like the wheels either, would look better if stock but i lost the stocks
-
Turned out great I got a Lindberg F150 Flareside that was the only
pickup I couuld find so might add Ligtning motor to it. I have a
set of racing seats to add to minemay also usea hood scoop on it
and build it as if It was a real truck i would like. Also found a F250
2 wheel drive at another place that I got might convert it to 4X4 and
build it wild trail rig with parts box seats
thanks man, its not quite done yet but close
-
Ohhhhh i like that. thumbs up
Great work it looks killer nice details
thanks guys
-
quick 2 day build, needed a break from the lightning and found this
not perfect but it looks good
thanks for looking
-
Looks real good now I can see more detail in the
pics might have to try a build like this of my own
I have the engine from a lightning project that
went bad and I was only able to save the motor
maybe a older ford or a ranger would be a good
home for it. Will have to see when go to hobby
shop this weekend.
Love the tires what kind are they?
thanks man, theres a lot of little details in it, im hoping to get more in it soon
if you do a ranger do it a street truck with the lightning motor, have yourself a lightning bolt
wheels are from a aoshima highlift kit, there kinda hard to find
last of the pics
-
looks wild love the tires makes it look mean
and nasty bet it would be a killer trail truck
thanks man, it would be a great trail rig with plenty of power to pull it out of tight spots, but it would be a lot of money to do it
better picture time
-
Looks pretty sweet so far. Can't wait to see some more progress !
thanks man
you could probably get a few scale inches more lift on the rear by dropping the rear leaf spring mounting location down too. out of the box it's up near the top of the frame rail.
for the front you may try some long coil springs fit into the stock/modified spring buckets and a solid axle. not sure what your donor 4x4 kit has to offer as far as front suspension so i can't make a recommendation there.
Dave
thanks ill have to keep that in mind for my next build, my donor kit was a lindberg F150 flareside kit but all i used was the trans case
more pics, one day off of school and no internet, so i got a lot done
for the front axel i used a second 99 lightning rear end with the rear leafs to give it the lift
sorry about the pics my camera is dead
