To commemorate Junkyards
Rob Hall replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are still plenty of 10 yr old cars and trucks with rust on the road. I didn't see it in Arizona, but definitely see them in NE Ohio. But they probably have more than 100,000 miles. -

John Grezecula or something like that IIRC. By the way, I noticed the Revell US website is down..it had been unchanged since the event. -

I got the email also. Good to hear. I'll have to check my notes and see what parts I need. -
The wrong "Actor" for the part.....

Yeah, I liked how they started w/ the puppy and ended w/ the older dog w/ gray muzzle. I also like the Mazdas ads where the guy started with a used Miata, then a Mazda 3, a Mazda 6, a CUV then a new Miata...for remembering 'when you were you'... -
i can relate to issues w/ IT and technology, I've been a software engineer for 20+ years, and done quite a bit of system administration and production support in that time...all sorts of corporate environments, from tiny 4 person startups to Fortune 500 companies---everything from being a full time employee to a W2 contractor, a corp-to-corp contractor, and 1099 independent. One thing I learned long ago is never to do volunteer work; every hour has to be billable at a good rate.

Interesting, the few Cobra kits from US manufactures
Rob Hall replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
One of the versions of the Lindberg Cobra coupe was one of the first snap kits I got as a kid, mid 70s, around age 5. Still have it somewhere in it's brush painted glue blob form.. -

Probably 10 variations or more over 50+ years. Scalemates has pics of the box art of several of them, but there are probably a few missing. https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?q=Amt+ac+cobra&fkSCALE[]="1:25"&fkSECTION[]=Kits -
The wrong "Actor" for the part.....
Rob Hall replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Kind of like Starsky & Hutch, premiered in '75, Hutch drove a '73-74 Galaxie that looked worn out.. -
In '03, Walmart might have been a big deal to Revell...now days, Hobby Lobby is probably the single biggest NA retailer (in terms of volume) Revell or Round 2 would deal with..

I'm always catching vehicle anachronisms in movies...little things like the creaking doors on a '64 Impala when the movie was set in '64 (Mississippi Burning), or an early 80s Olds 88 in a scene set in 1966 (The Debt), or a car changing years in a chase scene (the Contour going from early to later version and back and forth in Arlington Road). -
Been a quiet August so far for me, until I got my August shipment from HLJ....a couple Fujimi vans, a couple new tool Hasegawas, some Aoshima reissues, a Revell VW, and the new Beemax Porsche 935 Kremer.

Jeep Grand Cherokee
Rob Hall replied to 1320wayne's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Sharp build. I have this kit in my stash. I wish some of the newer generations of Grand Cherokees would have been kitted, I’m a big fan and I’ve owned two of them (‘00 and ‘14). -
$100 is cheap for adoptions; the fee to a rescue or shelter usually includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a vet visit. The last few dogs I've adopted have been in the $250-350 range for the fee IIRC.

Hot, humid weather and air conditioning issues. Got it repaired, starting to cool off..

Remember, these kits were the ones chosen by popular vote. Foose's subjects are popular, and these kits seem to be good sellers. I'm not into customs, but I think it's a neat kit. I'd like to see a stock '48-49 Coupe de Ville or '53 Eldorado, but I know the odds of that happening are slim to none, more of a subject for resin.

Cool...that's a kit I didn't know existed...love that generation of S-class. I have the Revell Premium BMW 740 Zender. Would love to see those Premium kits reissued.

I may get the Scenes Unlimited T15 BFGOODRICH TRAIL T/A or the Fireball Modelworks FMR-103 Rubber Goodyear Suburbanite tires for mine.

Rob Hall replied to Jon Cole's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The AMT kit had stock wheels and tires, the Revell kit had two sets of custom wheels, IIRC. -
It's got the same tires as the 2wd kit. I figure I'll get some tires from Scenes Unlimited or Fireball for mine. Maybe lift it a bit.
