This was built because of the engine. I inherited this engine as a started idea from my buddy when he passed. It was kicking around in a parts box for a couple of years before I finally settled on what to put it in. I added the pulleys, belt, exhaust, and wiring. I think this would be quite a hairy ride!

This was built for a 2 month long FB contest using the 64 Impala as a starting point. Figuring most would go with a lowrider or restomod I wanted to do something different. To me, the 64 Impala doesn't lend itself well to a variety of styles. So, what to do? I went with something I had never tried.
I used some parts from the Pontiac Banshee and made engine thruster pods from two Apache helicopters as well as parts boxes full of dodads for the underside. I weathered it just a bit. I won 3rd place with this entry.

I've been on a kick lately to finish up some stalled projects before the end of the year. This is one I started several years back. Got very close to the finish line before stalling out. Only took one evening at the bench to get it completed. I was looking through the internet one day and came across a 1:1 that looked dang near spot on to what I was building.
I still need to clean it up and get its "beauty shots" taken.

Been working on a few projects lately. A Flintstone 53 Ford Country Squire, a resin 41 Plymouth Sedan Delivery, and a pickup from several different kits. Just doing things on whichever I feel at the moment. I actually have some primer sprayed on the pickup. I taped off the 53 Ford yesterday to paint the woodgrain. Unfortunately, the tape pulled some of the body paint off. Oh well, easy enough fix.

What the....?????...?
My thoughts exactly! Figured they may have represented an, unfamiliar to me, aftermrket set or some odd thing like that. I figured there are a lot of guys on here that are knowledgeable of the history of the old AMT kits that might be able to fill me in?

Turned out great, Tom. Love the color and vinyl roof.
When you say it's "similar to one he had", I assume you mean a model and not a real 1/1 Eldorado.
Thanks.
No, I mean a 1:1 that he had years ago.

This is my first commission build. The guy wanted it built similar to one he had years ago.
I mixed a couple colors of nail polish to airbrush the body. Mixed three acrylic paints for the interior color. I also added styrene strips for the trim of the vinyl top and sprayed it with semi gloss white. This wasn't the funnest of kits to build, but it is done and the customer is happy. Now to get it to him in one piece.

Not the best kit to build but it was fun. The decals look great on the sheets but are a pain! The carrier covers the entire sheet so you have to cut very close. They are also thin and most removed themselves from the sheet while pulling them out of the water. Then they would curl up on me before I could get them to the body. Ruined most of the ones I wanted to use. Oh well, here it is.

Hey Tom.. I know it's been two years since your posting this but I just bought one of these kits. If you haven't picked up a instruction sheet or found a copy I'd be more than happy to either post photos of the one in my kit or make legible copies to send by mail, when the kit arrives. Just putting it out there..I also have "some" parts from my original kit in a box. I'd have to locate them to see what's in there if you would like. Let me know.. Mike
Thanks for the reply. I sold that kit off last year so I won't need them.

Nice work! Good thing you have a dehydrator since you'll be doing all that masking.
Yeah. Unfortunately it still wasn't enough. My clearcoat wasn't cured enough and the tape stuck to it. Pulled some of the paint off in a couple of places and major bleed through in others. So much for me finishing this in 48 hrs. The body is in the stripper now and this project will get finished another day when I can let the body sit for a week and gas out. Oh well.

Good luck with the build! It's a good kit for such a build, though when I built mine I masked all the black rubber and trim places on the body so I could airbrush it (hand painting requires steadier hands than mine), that was the worst element of building this kit.
Yeah, my plan is the same. Mask and spray the black. Going to have to make sure the body is dry.

One of the best-looking body configurations for the 911.
My thoughts too.
19 hours ago, Zoom Zoom said:Nothing identical whatsoever. The Tamiya kit is curbside only, based on an earlier snap kit of a 911 Speedster. Revell's latest 911 kit is a narrow-body G50 non-Turbo, full detail and really nice, the tires being the only real negative. Tamiya, Monogram, and Fujimi have made 1/24th 911 wide body Turbo kits. Fujimi's are either Enthusiast kits with full detail, or curbside. Monogram's is full detail. All should be close enough to work w/3D printed bodywork which itself is a lot of fitment work regardless of the body you start with. You have lots of options.
Thanks for your answer. The only other kits I am familiar with are the Fujimi Enthusiast kits, of which I have a few. Glad you could answer the questions.
The build-off starts tonight. I need to do some bench cleaning an paint locating today in preparation.

Thanks! Yeah, that's why I didn't get worried about it. I've already brushed on some primer and a couple of coats of paint. I'll give it a few days to harden and then I'll sand it down and see where I'm at.
