Those are interesting headlights and I would say yes, a Jaguar.

Thanks Zuki-
I'm enjoying this one and looking forward to building a Trans Am racer with the other kit I have.

Last two:
I also managed today to get the headlights glued in, the radiator wall and firewall installed and the rad hoses and master cylinder painted.
Any comments or criticisms always welcomed.

Here is another set:
I had a little run in with a 1/25 scale shopping cart that put a ding in my passenger door. Fortunately it was covered perfectly by the decal. I am happy about that because up to then the paint had been my best to date and I didn't want it scarred up.
Two more photos to come.

Hey guys-
Thanks for the nice comments. I am really enjoying this build and am having a hard time wanting to do anything but work on it.
I got the decals on today along with some other minor work. The good thing is that I also took photos today. So, here they are.
More photos to come.

That is going to be awesome. I love the work so far. Those rims are great. Does Bob have a site to order from?

Here are some more.
I also installed the driveshaft and installed the wheels but one isn't touching the ground. It looks as if my chassis is twisted a bit. It should straighten out once I glue the body in place. If not, I'll deal with it then. Next is to finish the firewall details and decal the body.
I hope you enjoy it and I welcome any comments, questions or criticisms.

OK guys-
I've been working on this off and on for the past couple of days and I have some new photos to post. The interior is now complete. Here it is-
I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I sanded the chrome off of the shifter knob to make it look like a white Hurst shifter. Then I used the XActo knife to cut the shift pattern into it and black washed it.
More photos to come.

Wow! Looking good Ryan. That interior is clean and I like the kit bashing of the steering wheel and valve covers. What kit are they from? I also like how shiny your inner fenderwells are.
I was surprised to see another 68 Firebird on here with mine. What color are you thinking of doing the body in? I really like those Testors Lacquers. Mine is the Rootbeer over bare plastic. It turned out very smooth.
Keep it up and let us see the posts. I'm hoping to get more photos up of mine tomorrow.

Hey Guys-
I just wanted to touch bases real quick. I have gotten quite a bit of work done on this thing in the last few weeks and I hope to get some updated photos posted in the next few days.
I have most of the interior done. I just need to BMF the interior door handles and window rollers.
I have the wheels and tires together. The chassis is complete with the exception of the drive shaft. The grille is detailed with the exception of the headlights needing glued in. I can't wait to get some photos posted. Hopefully by tomorrow night. Check back and see.

Cranky-
I like the weathering that you did. I have questions. How did you do the salt technique? How did you get it to stick to the body? Did you spray it first with Dullcote to get it to stick and what kind of salt? Was it Kosher? (Just kidding on the last one.)

WOW! That looks GOOD. I can't wait to see those exhaust tips in place. They will make that rearend look sharp.

That is looking very nice. It's starting to really come together and flows nicely. Keep it up.

Minty Green sounds good to me. I'll be keeping an eye on this resto. Keep us posted.

Here is the near completed chassis and susension.
I still need to paint the shocks and the springs. The rear assembly is just sitting there for a photo op.
I am using the tires and wheels from the Speedwagon kit since they give the model a nice rake and stance. I painted mine in Tamiya bottle "Metallic Grey". It isn't accurate, but close. And I like it.
That's all for now. Any comments or criticisms welcomed.

I finally got a chance to get some build time in and some photos taken. Here is where I am at so far.
I got the front grille assembled and detailed, except for the headlights, and it is just pressed into place for this photo:
The engine is complete, with the exception of a coil. I may also run a wire for the fuel line from the filter to the carb.
I did straighten out the carb as suggested by DWC (thanks) an the radiator wall is just sitting in place in this photo. I'll be gluing it into the body before assembly instead of to the chassis.
More photos in next post.

Great job boys! I like 'em both. I am working on one of the 68 Firebirds myself (posted under this section- "68 Firebird WIP") and I really like that Icy Blue on one of my favorite cars. Keep up the great work and let's see them finished.

This one is looking great. I like the modifications to the bed. Especially the subtle work you did to the transition from the rear of the cab to the front of the bed. Looks just like factory work. Keep it going.

That thing is great. I like all of your work on this. I really like the work on your spider caps. Wanna cast a set for me?? LMK.

What a beautiful job, Chris. Man, that thing is huge! I don't envy you having to do all of that BMF'ing. Thanks for sharing.

Tom-
That is a nice clean build. I, too, like the PE grille and the flattie. Good job.
BTW- Does anyone who has this kit want to trade the engine off? I have a need for it. I am willing to make a trade to get it. E-mail me, please with what you would be looking for.

I think that you are spot on with the color choice. I can see it already. Dark met blue with a shiny white roof insert and shiny white firewall. Just gorgeous!
Keep us posted. It sounds like a winner.

P.S.- If you want to get rid of that kit engine (for a swap, perhaps), send me a mail.

Thanks for the help guys!
Juergen- The photos are very helpful. I'll be using them as reference shots. Especially the interior.
dwc- Thanks for the info. I figured that it must be a mistake. I can't recall ever seeing a carb sitting at an angle like that before. I'll have to pull mine off and reglue it on straight.
I haven't gotten anything done lately. I was out of town from Thursday evening till Sunday night for a convention. What a pick-me-up that was. Today has been chores around the house. Hopefully tomorrow I can spend some time at the bench. This thing has already drug on longer than expected. I got some MicroSet and MicroSol Thursday morning. I can start on decals soon.
