  1. I finished 2009 unemployed, started 2010 unemployed, and in August I got a job. It pays less than unemployment, but I am working. And, its for less than half of what I usually make.

I have read all of the posts about the rough year that it has been. I truly enjoy the humor, it is needed. But at the same time, I am grieved that some of you have had it so rough. Life and faith have taught me that there is an answer outside of myself. For those of us that have had the thought that we can take care of ourselves and "get through it", some of us are those same ones that can't land a job, not for the lack of trying after 100's of resumes and dozens of interviews. My job came about as a miracle, in an industry where most job openings are word-of-mouth. My favorite car was re-possessed and sold at auction for $10,500 less than I owe on it. So now I owe for what I don't have.......

To those of you that have had it so rough, I dearly hope that you have a way to find joy and hope, and that things turn around for you soon!

  2. Congratulations to both Dad and Mom. Take it from a 47 year old father of 2, and grandfather of 2 more, love every stage of your childs life. They do indeed grow fast, and before you know it, you find yourself regretting that you didn't do more "with" them. Ah, but now I will do better with my grandchildren, and in turn, spend more time with my Son and Daughter.

    A very merry Christmas indeed!

  3. I know this is probably going to sound stupid, but I will offer to do security for a model contest/show here in Reno, Nevada. After living in California for 45 years, I moved to Nevada almost 2 years ago, and I am thrilled. Here in Nevada, like a few other states, a person can carry a pistol just about anywhere, as long as it is visible. For $78, you can attend a training class, and get a concealed-carry permit.

I think it would be quite a shock, to be confronted and held for police, by a modeller that stands for what is right. It would the first and last time that someone pulls that ###### around here. I know, I know, not really politically correct, but that's what happens when you stand-up for what is right.

I must still have my head in the sand, to be shocked that a body would steal a model or models.......:(:o

  4. Romell, I am watching with great interest your build of the Chevelle.

This truck proves, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that you have a sickness. This is not your normal, everyday sickness, but one that is all-inclusive, and has taken-over your life...................................................... I just hope that it is contagious :P

Remember, the first step to recovery, is admitting that you have a problem, and I think this forum is a good place to do that :D;):D

Taking that truck, trailer and car from show-to-show has got to be a nail-biting experience. Thanks for sharing! :D

  5. Thanks Brian! The color scheme sounds great :) Now I'll have to search for one of those. I am really falling in love with these older 60's, non-Camaro, Chevelle, Nova body-styles. They've been forgotten for the most part.

I'll be watching your progress with anticipation! :D:D:D

  6. What a unique style. Kinda reminds me of cruising Main Street in Salinas, California in the early 80's. Nearby was Fort Ord Army base. The soldiers were from many different parts of the country, and they would bring their cars to the cruise on Friday and Saturday night. The styles were so different than "ours". Most of them had the rear-end of their cars "jacked-up", compared to ours where the stance was more conservative, and "right".

They also tended to put lots of parts-store accessories all over their cars. Dare to be different indeed.

Thanks for the pictures of your progress.

  7. You have fantastic taste when it comes to trucks :(:P:lol: I love this style, right out of Truckin' and Street Trucks magazines. Where did you get the wheels for the Dually? Perfect! Could you please continue posting progress pictures?

    Thanks, Rod.

  8. Wow nice job on those two !!! Blue looks pretty good on the Chally's , but I'm aiming for this kind of look :

    Or kinda like this one:

You did a beautiful job on the two that you built !!! :(

The first picture that you provided if the R/T with the lowered stance, split 5-spoke wheels and and dark color, is so hot, I can't stand it  Now I have an idea for a future build. Thanks for the inspiration!

  9. What great project. The paint on your 1:1 is beautiful. I love real-fire flames on anything, from cars and trucks to motorcycles and boats. Can you take progress pictures of your painting the front-end? This would be such a help to those of us that are interested in doing the same thing. :(

    Thanks, Rod.

  10. I have been following this since the beginning, and I am very excited. Thanks for giving us the progress pictures. I know that the build itself takes a lot of time, but to chronicle the build with pictures for us, that is truly great!

    Thank you :(
