  1. Here's a German page (I translated it) with the parts for the '70 Cabriolet:

    http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=de&tl=en&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php%3Fid%3D9553

It has just a swing axle but seems to be the padded dash I can use.

And here's the '68 hardtop kit from the same site:

    http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=de&tl=en&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php%3Fid%3D9554

Interesting it has the old non-padded dash but has the '68 engine lid with the hump. This one has no louvers and the '70 has them across the top. We should be able to get quite a few years out of these two kits.

Looks like I'll be getting a few of these too! Between the two kits, there are so many possibilities... :)

  2. Are the windows flush fit, or inserted from the inside?

Had to go check, they appear to be flush fit

Supposedly, the reason Revell has the "series" thing is so that buyers for the chains like Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc. can purchase assortment lots of kits that relate to each other without having to pick them individually. The problem, though, is that kits like a bone-stock Beetle, Mini Cooper and '65 Impala convertible don't really seem to fit the spirit of the Cali Wheels line (because none have optional custom wheels, like the other kits in the series, for one thing). Seems to me it kind of defeats the purpose of having the series if Revell can't group related subjects together.

    I agree

  3. Ok...Ok... I'm picking it apart. Granted, it is a new kit, but it's just not accurate to call it a `68 as it doesn't even have fresh air heat!

By fresh air heat, do you mean the tubes from the air shroud to heat exchangers? Those parts are in there! I can see it's not a totally accurate model, but it will still build into a nice model car that'll look nice on any shelf... :)

Am I the first to open this kit? Definitely a new tool kit, with a parts count and similar detail to the great Tamiya '66 bug kit. I don't think it's a '68.The body looks like a '67, while the engine is at least a '71 because of the oil cooler set up and dual port intake manifold. The interior has an inaccuracy with a panel between the back seat and back window that was never there, and I believe the dash was supposed to be padded like a '69. Otherwise everything looks great! Waiting for the convertible kit to be released, so maybe I can combine the two to make a '69 like the two I had back in the day. Other than the inaccuracies listed, looks like it'll build into a great model! Thank You Revell! :)

  5. I have had this addressed and stamped letter sitting on my desk now for over a week.

I went to the post office and explained what I was trying to do, and according to them it can not be done. there was never any mention of any coupon or voucher etc.

    Oh well.

    Thanks Bob

Hi Bob, send me your address, and I'll do it for you. I'm getting mine ready to go, I'll just do another for you.... :)

  6. I'm in the Salt Lake area, what do you need? :)

    Rick

do you know some good place are to get models and do you know a loco hobby store to get stuff at like wheels plug wires and stuff like that

For cheap models, there's Hobby Lobby in South Jordan, or "Some dudes" Hobbies in West Jordan on Redwood and about 78th. For "one stop shopping" there's a great place in West Valley City at 54th and Redwood. A little pricy, but if anyone is going to have what you're looking for, it is them! They have the best selection of models, paints, and other accesories in the valley...

  7. Sorry, no progress in a long time, I've been out of town for the past month tending to a family emergency, which turned into just a family matter of importance. Looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do! Some great progress from all of you!! I've got a lot of things to catch up on here at home, but I'm looking forward to getting back to the bench pretty soon! :)

  8. Feel free to do so if you want Rick, the MCM Truckstop is the Iowa 80 of the model world, so we have PLENTY of parking!!

The trailer is looking great. Are you using the Coors decals on it? If so, set the reefer at 38 degrees, that's what they haul it at!:lol: That was one of my favorite loads I ever hauled, over 2000 cases of cold Coors staring at me when I climbed in the trailer to put load locks in it, that made me thirsty!!

Oh, just for the scale gearjammers that haven't driven the real things, the Iowa 80 reference is to the Iowa 80 truckstop in Walcott, IA, the world's largest truckstop. If I remember correctly, it sits on over 600 acres of land, and is a very nice place to spend a night! Here's a link to their website.

Thank You!! :D No, I wasn't going to use the Coors decals, I was going to try and make up my own! I was goofing around with the Testors Decal Maker software the other day, and think I can use that. I think I have the basic layout down, just have to play with colors some more. One of the companies I worked for had permits for all the trucks to haul alcoholic beverages. I never got one of those loads. Someone who knew me must have advised them against giving me one!!:lol:

  9. Extended deadline? I could almost add another entry! (Almost ;) ) Some progress, the trailer is basicly done. Still need to do the reefer parts, come up with some decals, and do some finish detailing on both the tractor and trailer.
