For lots of handy tips involving scratch building, especially for classics, get Gerald Wingrove's 2-volume set of "The Complete Car Modeller."

Looks great. But I sure would like to see a stock version.

Slightly better news; a nurse has visited and done basic medical checks and an occupational therapist has visited and will return twice per week. Harry has done well with the OT.

Wonderful job.

The Monogram Cord phaeton (with a back seat) is the best of the bunch in this scale, along with the other Monogram classics.

T.H.E. Cat '67 Vette. Was once available as an AMT kit but that's long extinct and way collectible. But it shouldn't be too hard to kitbash with modern available stuff. In fact, there was an article on how to build it in one of the old-school model car rags before the kit came out.
LOVED that show. Robert Loggia in a cat burglar show with a gypsy theme.

The clunky windshield frame is one of the worst parts to me. I'd cut away the upper portions of the frame and carefully paint very thin chrome around the upper edges of the glass, with a proper curve on the corners; there may be an aftermarket DuVal windshield frame that is more accurate. (Use the box art photo of the real car as a guide.) Note that the step plate on the rockers should go down much further than molded. I have never seen even the best build of this kit where the hood fits flush, so test fitting and sanding are critical. One problem that really can't be conquered is that the grille part is too vertical and doesn't lean back enough, but that's no big deal. If you can conquer the windshield and the hood fit, this can look great.

My copy was delivered this morning. I immediately wrote a review. I'm not patronizing here. The book is a legitimate must have for automobile fans and aficionados everywhere ... oh yeah, modelers too
To hold Harry's collection in one hand offers an amazinga glimpse of his passion and skill ... the book design is elegant and the stories are well written and every page will entertain everybody on this site and probably everyone they know ...
Bravo Harry ... and thank you!
My thoughts exactly. It's wonderful to have Harry's Greatest Hits in one compendium. I'm looking forward to Volume II.

I just ordered this from Amazon.com. Great way to help Harry.

The Uschi logo is scary because it's from a Hitler Youth poster. (I haven't seen "High Castle," but I guess that's your point). Meanwhile, I am loving this build. Superb craftsmanship.

Other builders have noted that the roll-up windows are too thick for a proper interior panel fit, so you might try a test fit.

Looking good.

Killer.It feels very, very authentic.

Looking great.

This car to me looks more like a custom than a factory-stock car. But I guess that is allowed here.
Totally stock.

Actually, it's 1:25. The wire wheels are okay, but hard to find better replacements. For those interested in the kit, note that it's the 2nd generation fuel-injected GTi version, though many owners reverted to the Weber carb version. Not a tremendously accurate kit, but the only game in town, and this is as good a box-stock build as you'll find anywhere – just excellent.

Very nice - difficult to get this kit to look this good.
Agree.Excellent job.

And the camber is just right.

We amassed a large library of DK books when my daughter was in grade school. They were mostly for me. Great stuff.

Looks like you nailed it, great in every detail. How well do the opening parts close?

Someone just made a $1000 donation to Harry's Fund ! If it's anyone here, bless you. Prayers and money will get our man out of this. Please keep both coming as best you can.

Harry did, indeed, make a beautiful version of this kit. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/68927-westward-ho-concord-stagecoach/
