This is more or less what I am looking for, nothing like a picture of a 1/1 for inspiration. Hopefully I don't get in trouble with Dave Lindsay about using his picture on the forum Sorry Dave!!

Thanks for the replies fellas. Sorry about answering the questions so late, had to do a few chores last night and could not get back to my computer until this morning. The paint is Lime Time from the HOK 3 step sytem that Wal-Mart use to carry. The clear is Odds and Ends. Painted the basecoat white before adding the color. It looks good on the pictures but believe you me, it needs a lot of attention in the polishing department. I had a bottle of Rainbow Colors lacquer paint laying around for years and decided to use it on the engine, they are not in business anymore I believe the battery is from a Detail Master kit I also had around my parts bin for several years and decided to use it. Last night I started rubbing out the body and it's really coming along nicely, I will have pictures very soon for you guys to check out. Randy, I will try to go to the MAMA meeting this Saturday but can't promise you certainty!! Is that a word?? Again, thanks for the replies my friends, glad to know you like it!!!!

I decided to build a 49 Merc like the rest of the country so forgive me Just painted the body sunday night and it's almost time for some polishing and waxing I used Model Car Garages' Stromberg carburetor detail set and even though it was kind of tedious I think they will ultimately look good on top of the engine, later I will connect some fuel lines onto the firewall. Also decided to go with an Ultima battery. I am painting the interior the same color as the engine which is Verdoro Green for contrast with the body color. Hope to have this done in another 3 weeks or so, hopefully

Did you get a smooth paint job before polishing it? That thing is looking sick!!! Absolutely love the lines of this body, can't wait to see it finished!!!!

I bought mine from Wal-Mart about 2 years ago. American Harvest by Nesco is the brand. This one has variable temperature settings. I always use the 100 to 105 degree option and never had any issues. What I like the most about using this gadget is that I am ready to paint in minutes after washing my parts and also after priming the models I am always certain to have a completly dried primered model before laying my paints. I use to wait a whole day after priming but I don't worry about that anymore. When I am done with painting I usually just leave the parts for 24 hours and that paint is completely dry and ready to polish and wax.

I used the Detailer on these Stromberg carbs, it has always worked fine for me. Just remember that less is more......

Hey guys, just taking a bit of time out to promote my LHS, I am sure everybody else has their own favorite and I am going to honor and help my own. I personally think that the owner of this one is one of the greatest friends I have, always helpful on everything I need. The name of the store is Overlea Hobbies here in the state of Maryland. He has a great and terrific stock of kits, from trains to my favorite of course, CARS!!! The name is Overlea Hobbies and if you live in Maryland or close enough you ought to check him out. His selection of model cars is pretty extensive and if he doesn't have it he will order it for you. I thought it was a good idea to do this and hopefully I can check out the next ones you guys will be posting....... By the way, his number at the store is 410-665-3622.
