  1. At least the run was in the primer and not the paint, much easier to correct that. Excellent color choice! I painted my 71 Charger in the same green, I think Dodge called it Green-Go while the Plymouth version was Sassy Grass. In either case, Tamiya TS-22 Light Green over black primer is a good match. What did you use? David G.
  2. I agree! Aside from the additional work of the techniques themselves, getting the right level of distressing without overdoing it is so much more of a challenge to me than building a model with a "fresh off the floor" finish. There's also a certain level of randomness to the process that to me, adds some artistic feel to it. I do build both ways of course because I don't like to limit myself. Yours is coming along great! I think your decision regarding the interior is a good one. David G.
  3. Beautiful work on the conversion so far! David G.
  4. Excellent work so far! I love all the details you're adding. David G.
  5. Beautiful interior and engine detailing, nice paint too. David G.
  6. Thanks Bill. I'm glad that Polar Lights released this version too. It allowed me to build a model of the classic Batmobile without having to fight with the tricky paintjob. I have had the de-luxe box kit in my stash since it was released and I still haven't mustered up the courage to take a swing at it. David G.
  7. Quality work there! David G.
  8. Beautiful work! Love your photo setting too. David G.
  9. Wow! Beyond impressive, museum quality even. David G.
  10. An impressive piece of machinery. Beautiful color combination and nice detail painting, well done! David G.
  11. What a wonderful project! Everything looks fantastic so far. David G.
  12. I remember back many years ago when I was a small child there was a Tootsietoy version of this car or, a similar one. It was one of my favorites. Yours is an excellent rendition, thanks for sharing it and bringing back some fond memories. David G.
  13. Excellent replica! I think I have a 1950 Ford Pick-up in my stash, I may have to try my hand at this myself. David G.
  14. As best as I can determine, I bought and built this kit back in 2011, but for some reason I never posted anything about it on the MCM Forum. So I'm posting this thread to correct that omission. Many Modelers have been waiting for more than 40 years for a 1:25 scale model of the Batmobile from the 1966 TV show. Polar lights released an impressive series of models based on the Barris Batmobile, this is the first of three kits that were released and it's well worth the wait. In addition to this, the snap together kit, there is a De-Luxe glue together kit, which I already have, and a special edition that will be in a collector's tin. This special edition will, of course, have all sorts of nifty little extras. But that will have to wait. On to the Snap-Kit! The snap together kit comes with a chassis plate that's molded to represent the fictional turbine engine. The glue together kit offers a choice between the turbine engine or Lincoln V-8, like the actual car in the TV show had. I've painted the chassis the way I think it should look. This was my first time using Bare Metal Foil- the actual brand name stuff, not a lesser knock-off product. There's a world of difference between the two. The real thing is far superior, much easier to work with and gives far better results. Though this is a pre painted kit, that really only applies to the body and figures, the rest of the kit is molded in black, chrome and clear. To build a more accurate replica, detail painting is a must. Here is a test fit of the interior that shows some of the detail painting and a number of the teeny-tiny decals used to label the various Bat-Devices. Being the detail oriented person that I am, I decided to try to preserve some of the fine detail that the kit offers. The headlight cover grilles are clear plastic. I decided to drybrush some black on them to allow the headlights that would be mounted behind them to show through. I even painted the area behind the headlight lenses bright silver to make the headlights more visible. I discovered later that it was a complete waste of time. Test fitting prior to final assembly. This is not an overly complicated kit and assembly is rather straight forward, though some minor adjustments needed to be made. Mostly opening holes for the assembly pins to snap into and other minor issues. The body comes pre-painted, including the orange stripes and bat logos on the door. They did a very nice job of it, much better than I could have done. The rear grilles, parachutes and afterburner still need to be added. For those who may be interested in seeing the finished model, here is a link to it in the Under Glass section. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to leave a comment. David G.

  20. Thank you Steve- and you're welcome. There are more on the way. David G.
  21. Your welcome Tom and thanks for your comment. I agree it is a good kit, I enjoyed building it now and forty-plus years ago. Thanks Bob, I'm glad you like it. Thank you for your kind words Rusty. I'm glad to know that my efforts are appreciated. When I first started this project of rescuing my old threads, I was a little concerned that I would be called out for resurrecting "zombie" threads or attention-seeking but it seems my efforts are being appreciated for what they are, thank you. David G.
  22. I built the Polar Lights snap kit about ten years ago and I was quite pleased with it. I thought I posted a WIP thread on this group back then but it looks like I didn't. If so, it's the only place I didn't. I have all the text and images in various locations, I should probably just create one here at MCM. Anyway, if you're interested in seeing a short WIP on the Polar Lights snap kit, here is a link to my personal web page. Hope that helps inform your decision. David G.
  23. Just too cool! Very well done. David G.
  24. Smooooth an' Deadly! David G.
