  1. Great looking model. Excellent job.
  2. Back from a week at work - I am working on chassis this weekend.
  3. Accurate? Maybe close - just trying to avoid glaring differences. I am using materials on hand and trying to make an efficient build, so there will be inaccuracies. However, please keep posting information. This is for the benefit of all and if I decide to spend more time on another (I am kind of liking this car)... Thanks again for the info!
  4. The kit should have red taillights - unless, like when I built mine - they ran away and hid during construction.
  5. Nice. Great looking model.
  6. When did the kit review section become the "let's see if you can do better" section? I can critique Proust, but I'll never write better.
  7. Cool car and ambitious project. I like it.
  8. Airbrush. Mine happens to be an Iwata, but I would be happy with any nice one...
  9. I preshaded the darker areas then sprayed Tamiya Gray over it, enough to cover, not enough to obscure the shading. The front seats are done the same way but the lightbulb is directly above them and makes them look different. The color is a little misleading in the photo due to the intense spot of light from the bulb - which is only about 4 inches away. It is meant to represent the light gray interior color and I am just using colors I have on hand - this being Tamiya XF-66 Light Gray. It looks pretty close to me...
  10. Interior and engine bay painted... Still a lot of detail painting to do Other interior parts: As Bradley noted above, the dash has speakers located at each end. I am not going crazy on detail for this build, but a decal/scribing/? Would help differentiate. I think I'm just going to go with a bit darker gray.
  11. Cool. I like the tire/wheel size in the concept and where they sit in the wheel wells - sometimes the Daytonas appear to have too small tires set back too far. Nice work so far on the body! It flows well with the new nose.
  12. Engine is painted gray. I mixed Tamiya Light Gray XF-66 with a couple drops of black to get the color close to what I saw and added a coat of Future for semi-gloss shine. Transmission is Alclad Aluminum, Dark Aluminum with a light spray of Vallejo wash to darken the bell housing a little more. I'll give it all a little dark gray wash later.
  13. Gray is drying on the engine, so I have been primering interior parts. Here is the dash after an initial sanding and primer, and one thing I thought was just part of the dash is actually a mold line (I think the speakers are located there?): So I'll be doing some scraping and sanding...
  14. It might be due to a couple things - if the length of the window is also short, it will not appear as long and narrow as on the new Revell kit. I have been looking at a lot of cars for my WIP and one thing about the Fox body is the ratio on the side window - the height to width ratio - that gives it a certain look (difficult to describe in words, and probably pablum from me...) and goes with the rest of the body proportions. The current proportions on the Revell kit make it look like a 1990 Cougar, which is a different kind of car (larger, cruiser type vs small, sporty) and just throws "The Look" off.
  15. So the engine is in purple bath thanks to Bradley steering me away from the Revell painting chart - which is mostly just made up recommendations (blue engine, black fan, etc). Body is in second coat of primer and I've been prepping the hood. Note how the ejector pin marks (generally the bane of underhood structure) sand off easily:
  16. Beautiful. Great looking model. Really great looking paint. Clean and realistic.
  17. Thanks Bradley. I am chalking this one up as a learning build - hopefully others will too! I have zero experience with Fox body Mustangs, so...yup. How about the cooling fan? White or black? Or?
  18. Almond Biege Pearl. I love sleeper/old-man-bought-a-fast-car look. A few mold lines to remove, nothing major: And the engine/transmission - ill add a wash to the tranny: The instructions call for the blue oil pan, a few reference shots had a gloss gray, so I don't m ow what's correct. Sooooo many of these cars are modified its not real easy getting good, stock shots. Little bit of primer:
  19. A car literally sitting in a swamp with no back window in an environment so humid even the gauge faces are rusty? No, there is nothing left here but the Swamp Things next ride.
  20. Looking very nice. I really like that color with the chrome trim - very attractive.
  21. Cool scheme going on Jared. I like the wheel/tire combo with the redlines - are those vinyl? Very cool.
  22. Totally stock. I will ad some wires and may make a few slight changes, but that's it. I almost screwed the second piece I glued on - the heads. They look the same, but there is a small difference that may make a big difference in how the exhaust fits later: Make sure the spark plug hole is furthest to he front and the exhaust port furthest back. I had cut both heads off to prep and didn't know which end was up, so I googled this: Good reference. First bit of paint:
  23. . Thanks!
  24. Without further ado... Kit roof be damned, I'm building this thing. Quick note: It appears they forgot to shrink the 5 all the way on the passenger side :0 This is cool, though: This is with the interior floor in place - note the molded in "ribbing" in the tranny tunnel. Nice touch!
