I saw this kit on here before some where and I really liked it so I thought I would give it a try. It is a Revell Basic Builder, but I took the liberty to spie it up a littl so it wasn't so basic any more. I went to Lowes and scored some computer wire for something like 90 cents a foot and in the computer wire there are 8 different wires orange green blue brown and four white ones and they lloked pretty close to scale to me, being a amature at this Im sure Im wrong but it makes for nice spark plug wires instead of a plain distributor just sitting on the front of the engine. I ran a fuel line from the fuel tank bak and I also ran a hose from the pressure tank to the water tank (not really sure thats how it goes but looks pretty neat). I also scrubbed down the slicks but there is this pesky gap all the way down the center if any one would give a suggestion on how to make it flat that would be nice. I still need to clear coat the whole thing cause I did cheat and just put the decals right on the pre colored body. Open to comments and Advice, please and thank you!
Looks good so far, wish I would of opened my doors up but oh well. Just in case you have a brain fart after you cut the little flaps (side windows) off the back windshield dont throw them away. lol I did now but some one on here said to use water bottle for my mistake and Im pretty sure its gonna work. Good luck here is my crapsterpiece.
I decided to go with the monster truck cause I just got done with my Blacked Out Escalade and I liked the way it was a little bigger than my cars, So I went big 1/25 AMT USA-1 Monster Truck. Im working on another 5.0 and was looking at the distributor and saw how ugly it was just sitting on the motor with no wires. So I started to look around and found an old lamp cord cut it open and twisted and twisted 3 copper wires together and it looks about the right scale once it was painted. I liked it so I put it to use on the Monster Truck motor too,as you can see there not the right length or in the right place yet but its in progress. Im painting it two tone blue with blue flake and silver it will be my first two tone job. I will keep the progress coming so I hope some one can throw me a bone on the two tone if the want. Thanks.
It's a Revell 2 in 1 But I did it the 3rd way, My way. I took the rims from my 300c uptown and flat blacked them as well as the truck. It needed a little more room for the rims to fit but I made it work! My buddy collects diecast dub editions and I think it looks way cooler than any of his trucks LOL! The only problem that I found with this kit was there was no motor and the hood did not open. It had metal exaust tips which I thought was pretty cool. Hope some one likes this buil.
Thanks, I have used the clear coat once now and just like you sai smooth is the key, clear coat does not make mild orange peel the least bit glossy looking, just found that out. I use the spray cans for now. I would like to start experimenting with an airbrush but funds are limited. It is easier to come up with 5 bucks for a can ever time I need to paint than it is to buy a cheap air brush set for some reason??? Thanks for all the hints and tips. Off to orange peeling my paint jobs!
This was new for me to take parts from another car and add them but I think it worked out pretty good. Its a 70' 442 w-30. Its Testors gold with Testors Lime gold on top of the gold dont know if the gold was even needed but I did it any ways. I covered the back seat with green card so it would look more like a drag car. I took a NASCAR cage and seat out of a jeff gordon car I got at a yard sale for 50 cents and fabricated it down to size and painted it the body color. I cut the exaust to look like some of the cars Ive seen in person they always sounded pretty good up close so if this bad boy ran I know it would sound great. So here it is! Hope some one has something good to say about it.
Thanks, I just laid the carpet and touching up the wheel. But i encountered one problem, When I cut the back glass tofit the opening I lost the side pieces, Shhh! dont tell any one, They roll down like the front is all I have to say about that!
Man Ive seen your work Now that is great detail!!! A compliment coming from you makes me fell good about my progress, Hopefully I can pull off detailed pieces like yours one day. Thank you!!
