  1. Just wanted to thank all of you who helped me with my painting and filler questions. I have a good bit more confidance going into my Boss 429 build, in fact I not only shaved off the side markers but the wipers and heater vents on the cowl. I am going ot tackle the door handles tonight and then the body should look "right". I want to post pics of my progress to get advice along the way, we'll see if I can remember, if not then definately an end product pic for sure.
  2. Just wanted to add a little clairity to my original post. The stuff I bought was sanding sealer, the person working at hobby lobby said it will work for filling in the gaps and all that. Did I get the right stuff? Also, I did the tip on putting a dab of glue in the indentation from the side marker and it worked great!
  3. First let me start by thanking you all for your painting tips, they were very useful. So I have moved on to a '70 boss 429 and want to shave the ugly side markers off. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought what I think was the correct stuff to fill and smooth the areas where the lights will be sanded off, it is a sandind filler I believe it was called, as Im sitting at work I cant recall the exact name. Is the correct method of doing this? I sanded the area flat and filled the indentations left fron the markers with the filler and will keep doing so in small layers until I get the body line correct. I am using a finish grade sandpaper to smooth out and will use a 1200 grit to do final finish. I am planning on painting a 3 color scheme with the main body being pearl blue, with the centerline of the car being a nice silver and having black rockers, rear spoiler and chin spoiler. Any tips and tricks will be much appriciated.
  4. First time poster here so I apologize if I break any unwritten rules. I am getting back into the model car hobbie to quench my need to work with cars. I have just completed 2 builds with moderiate success, a '49 Merc and a '70 Baldwin Motion Chevelle. I am somewhat happy with my ability but am getting really frustrated with painting the tiny detail parts like battery cables and other little wires. I have been looking around for tiny brushes and do now have a suprt tiny detail brush, but I think it may be more to do with my technique. In looking at the pics of member builds I an completely blown away by your skills and definately want to get there, as far as brush painting what tips would you have as far as technique and even types of paint used. I am using Testors paint now but if theirs something better Ill try it. Im about to start a '70 Boss 429 for my wife and really want to impress her. Thanks in advance and I WILL have more questions in the future.
