  1. Poppa, there's No way to please everyone no matter how hard you try.
  2. Welcome to the forum Dean as it is a good place to be. There are a couple of great model car clubs in Wisconsin not too far from you. One of them meets tomorrow (10th) night in Delavan.
  3. No rain here today Harry, so take that Impala out for a spin.
  4. How 'bout a "'fin" down the center of the trunk lid like we used to in "da good old days?"
  5. I hung around the house today, so I didn't see anything on the road today. Maybe tomorrow as I've got a "cruise night" to go to.
  6. I hafta agree with you Dave that the "stoplight drags" of the 60's & early 70's was a great adrenaline rush and an awesome feeling. Of course like you, I wouldn't do it now either, or so I hope as like you said, the world has changed tremendously since then.
  7. This is all really VERY simple, we modelers can enjoy the vast selection of model kits produced today and that goes all the way back to the late 50's, or if we want a special kit that has never been made, there's a solution to that as well. A person can have ANY model car kit made that they want, all they have to do is "foot the bill."
  8. Check out some slot car wheels.
  9. I like when the stores are crowded as it is great for "people watching." When I shop, I usually don't have a plane to catch that day, so I'm in no hurry.
  10. SWEET!
  11. With the increase of vehicles on the road today and the number of drivers in those vehicles preoccupied, it's not safe to street race anymore, no matter how many Fast & Furious movies you've seen. Back in the 60's we didn't have cell phones, iPhones, iPads, GPS,or video screens, etc. We did have MAP and it still works today. Ideally one must look at the map BEFORE getting into the vehicle and driving to their destination. Even if you did find a road with almost no traffic, I've heard of people letting their 1 1/2 year olds wander outside and into the streets. Then what are you going to do? How would you like to live with the thought that you took away someone's LIFE with your vehicle? Some people just don't get it.
  12. Not so Harry as if you'd check the 10 day forecast, you'll be able to do a cruise night on Monday, Wednesday, and a car show next Sunday in your Impala. Remember that car is NO fun sittin' in the garage.
  13. How many of them were recalled for some reason or other?
  14. On 4th of July in the Chicagoland area at the famous Duke's Drive In there was supposedly a Camaro and a silver car racing on Harlem Ave. The driver of the Camaro lost control 'bout 90mph and hit a pickup truck head on. I heard the driver and two passengers in the Camaro were killed along with the driver of the truck. Com' on guys, this isn't the 60's anymore, it's a LOT different nowadays.
  15. Tony, the Mazmanian Willys was candy red over a GOLD base coat as I had asked "Big John" himself when I saw him at a gasser even in 2003 at Thompson, Ohio.
  16. IF and when you get older, you'll probably be the same way and use the shopping cart for a walker and take your sweet azz time doin' things as well. Thank God that you're able to get around and ask for some patience while you're at it. You sound like you're in a hurry to go NOWHERE.
  17. I have a good friend that is a Chicago "native" and has lived out in the Denver area for 40+ years. We used to build models together and he still buys and collects kits, however he says there's very little goin' on out his way as far as model car and 1:1 cars shows. He also wishes that he could enjoy some of those shows we have here in the Midwest as well as the food here in Chicagoland.
  18. I hafta agree with Art's comments as the money to produce this kit or that kit is "just not there" at least not in today's market. Model companies are VERY careful in what they have tooled up and produced. Just take what's available and run with it.
  19. Two weeks ago I had sprayed Tamiya TS-13 Clear over Black Gold's paint with no ill effects. In fact it came out beautiful.
  20. 11:44 p.m. and the neighborhood folks are finally done shooting off their fireworks, oops I spoke too soon. Yep over the years this has become a "hurray for me and FY society. I hope those people wake up with massive "hangovers" tomorrow morning.
  21. EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion.
  22. As long as you enjoyed it, that's ALL that matters. BTW, I don't have a workbench either, but for the last 50 years I've used my desktop and it works great. All my tools are in one drawer, and when I clean up, no one can tell that I build model cars on my desk. I also use my desk for reading, looking through my mail, paying bills, etc. I though about getting the desk refinished, but then it wouldn't have any character. It works for me.
  23. I'm NOT going there.........................................................................................................
  24. Lookin' good Michael, real good but there's NO selling on this forum. LOL!
  25. Jim, you must be a Viet Nam Veteran, and I thank you for your service.
