  1. Thanks Guys! After putting a couple decals on I realized the contrast between the grays wasn't as much as I hoped.
  2. I drew up a camouflage pattern and printed it out on decal paper.
  3. A second darker shade of Tamiya Ocean Gray was applied to the center section parts.
  4. Testors 1/72 kit. I know my Dad had his hand in this designing the earlier larger scale kit (and a couple others like it), but I'm not sure to what degree on this one. I know he drew the Scale-Master decal artwork for both kits. Since it is fictional I decided it could be cool to do it camouflaged. Digital camo seemed like a good fit. I started with a base coat of Tamiya Neutral Gray. All the upper surfaces were shot with the same color. (The canopy frame is just tacked in with white glue.)
  5. 1/72 Monogram kit. Had some damage probably due to it being stored on the bottom of a pile of kits. Built out-of-the-box and even used the kit decals. Fun kit to build…
  6. I originally put the wheels on the wrong nose gear & dolly parts, (I should have noticed earlier, but mostly working on it during late nights I missed it…). Even when I swapped them to the correct ones, the nose gear door was still longer than the wheels. So I trimmed the door so the tires would touch the ground.
  7. Thanks guys!! Some of the 3D parts will be offered through Fraxional after the car is finished. The master cylinder assembly with J56 proportioning valve & bracket and cap w/gasket. Working cap clamps too… (overkill?). The bleeders and front line fitting will be added later.
  8. Thanks guys! Next I dry buffed the black with a small amount of SNJ aluminum powder to soften the harshness of the black. This was followed up with a coat of Testors Metalizer Sealer to give a semi-gloss sheen and to seal it. Photos of the real plane range from nearly gloss black to multiple sheens and shades including some flat areas. As far as I'm concerned, this is fine for this project. The fuel tanks have been added too. The little canopy window had a crack in it that I didn't notice before so I used Krystal Kleer for it and the camera window in the belly.
  9. The decals responded well to soaking them in solvent during application. They are a little out of registration and heavy on the clear, but on par with much of the rest of the kit.
  10. The fuel tanks are two shades of silver. I used flat and gloss aluminum. It wasn’t worth the effort to create a polished "chrome" look for the shiny sections.
  11. Like the rest of the kit, the landing gear is pretty simple. Painted with Tamiya acylics.
  12. Thanks guys. It's just a fun side project. I wet-sanded the base black with 1000 and went with Tamiya TS-29 for the final paint.
  13. Thanks Guys! I gave it a base coat of black, but it still needs more work before the final finish. The canopy section is temporarily held in place with white glue, and the window that will get a clear piece is "masked" by filling the hole with white glue.
  14. It's not like the interior can be seen through the tiny window, but I just had to paint it.
  15. 1/72 Monogram kit. Kind of a rescue; the tail was broken off and the rear fuselage top was mashed and broken with many spider cracks where the tail was. And the tail was oddly fractured with similar cracks on one side too. (I didn't realize the damage until I looked at the instructions trying to figure out what part number the tail was…) Fixed…
  16. Finished clutch slave cylinder, installed.
  17. The cap for the clutch master was made with the other parts, it grew well and even cast nicely, but it didn't look right. So I milled a new one.
  18. I got the printer working again and made the original proportioning valve I did in 3D. (I guess it's like losing a part in the carpet; make a new one and you find the original…)
  19. These are the masters I pulled a mold off for the brake and clutch parts. I broke the little bracket extricating it from the RTV, no problem; it will be more resilient as a cast part.
  20. For some reason the proportioning valve would not print/grow with the rest of the layout. I tried to print it separately but the printer stopped reading all files, so I made one from scratch the old fashioned way while I try to figure out what the problem is.
  21. I spent some CAD time this week designing the brake master cylinder. The clutch master cylinder. The clutch slave cylinder. And the J-56 Corvette adjustable proportioning valve & bracket. Full assembly.
  22. Thanks guys. I'm not sure what you're referring to as the gearbox change rod John. The shifter linkage is included in the kit.
  23. Thanks! You can read all about it in the new Muscle Cars, Restomods & More magazine from SA. (The C5RX-7 is one of the cover cars.) There was a thread here about it a few days ago...
  24. Thanks Guys! No, the GTX is still a '71.
