You are doing quite a bit of work on this, and it is definately increasing the accuracy of the build.
Is Academy's new "Reuben James" based off this kit? . I want to build a modern ship, and that kit with PE added seems a fun time. Trouble is I want some accuracy, and if it's based on this I won't bother as I am not up to speed on ships.

It is upgraded version of this kit. They just add some P/E to the kit. I just got my 3rd P/E kit and I can not wait to get as it has all the doors and hatches plus lots of other parts that the other 2 kits didn't have.

Hi again, sorry for such a long delay but I have been busy moving and dealing with life in general. I have had some time to work on this and have a few extra pics to show, as always Thanks for looking and feel free to critique.

This is the flight deck with scratch made bollards and hatches plus the 02 lvl in the background. I've striped all detail off the 02 lvl as it looked pretty bad IMO.
My modified stacks with scratch steps and lights plus a new rear door.

WOW!!!! Simply stunning work, you really know your subject and can bring them to life. What did you use for the 40mm rounds in that one display? Was the gun a scratch build also?

I got mine from Micro Mark but they were not called Tadpole Sanders, handy things to have for sure.

It seems like that in order for the American companies to make something interesting they have to go "Retro" or back to the muscles cars. I think that the "foreign" makers (if there is such a thing today) have much more style. I drive a 2011 Nissan Juke and love it, lots of style ( you either like it or not) and fun to drive. Seeing all the oddball cars on here is fantastic and I hope it never ends

I have a Tamiya Type 79 in my stash pile waiting for my other projects to get done (2 planes and a ship) I have the P/E for this kit and look forward to building it. Was there any issues with the kit as it went together? -

just moved to sterling htgs.im looking 4 model clubs neer me found 1 that had metings in royal oak ???but didnt wright it down now i cant find it??any help?and does any 1 know where the oners of auto know that used to be on van dyke just north of hall rd are now i belive their names were bob & nacy?.thanks mike

hi again, just a quick update. I have been starting some of the smaller items and seeing how everything is going together. I tried the Yankee P/E mast and to be honest I'm not impressed, to me it looks flat and just not right, that being said the kits radar mast was a PIA to build as nothing lined up plus the fact that both masts have extra beams that need removing. I also scratched up a towed array opening on the stern, I know the Perry was a short hull but she did have that system installed.

Very cool history there! Thanks for showing it. As I looked at it I had to wonder how the heck did they get coal into it as they traveled? I don't see an opening for the coal. I'm thinking you had to be a very brave person to be an Engineer back then.

Here is an odd thought but maybe a cool pattern done in epoxy flooring paint? Would make a plain floor really stand out.
