  1. Hey i think this is a good question for someone getting into/ back into hobbie. today i sprayed my 359 pete. gloss red with a flat black base to get a dark dark red color. a few minor runs but all and all a ok spray for a first timer. im hopping a little sanding and some reworking will help fix the bad spot! anyhow just for talk and i think to refresh my brain you guys didnt get it right the first time, im curiuos what are some of the firs t models you did and how did they turn out ? how many did it take you till you looked back and said. " now hey im making some progress here, and this is something i really wanna display. as for my pete everything else looks sweet so maybe i'll find me a difrend body for it someday, who knows like i said you cant go forward with out looking back to see just how far you come !!!!
  2. mcm yeah im thinking the same with the dragster motors, but im not sure what to do then with the tires, i kow everything else can be scratch built
  3. yeah, highway, thats a great load idea i came up with huh? i know i seen a 48foot skateboard with it one time i think in texas! im sure the weight wasnt a issue, but it was permited oversized. i think for it hanging over back if i recall? but i think hight wise it wasnt much over 13'6 thanks for the info on the pull tractor guys. you think a few engines from a top full drag car would be a path to go ? i see the pulling tractor kits are quite pricy! im a trucker i cant afford that !
  4. lol, my attempt at humor. anyhow this is a question for now for some info for a project down the road. well two diffrent projects. i've seen some people have done the 4x4 pulling trucks. so it makes me wanna do someday a pulling tractor. You know the ones that are long with skinny tires up front and huge tires on the back, with 3 or 4 up to 7 or so engines. some thins aircraft engines( allison aircraft and jet turnbine). i wanna do a model of this someday. one with many engines i think this would be so cool looking with highly detailed racing engines. and im guessing one way to get motors would be to buy mulitible kits, but that would get pricy for just motors. so any suggestion on what to do on that ? next would be the huge tires in the back. look like monster truck tires but i thing the sizes would be way off. i guess one thing with motors would be to resin cast from one kit but i've never done it and its down the road for me to try it. i know the dragster models have big looking motors, but i think they're too big. so im thinking funny car. any idea are thanked now for the helicoptor im building a 359 pete with a flat bed trailer. your typical 48' trailer( not a step deck or lowboy) becouse in my travels as a trucker i've seen one hauling a huey helicopter. and i think what might of been a tarped apache ah-64. and most models in that scale are 1/48 . so if i was todo that fro a load. anyone know of a scale close to what i need for 1/25 that would look close but not overly off? same goes for a tank i seen a truck with a it looked like a older tank like a vietnam era. someone on cb said a shurman m-47 i think? but anyhow same goes for scale size. i just want a cool cargo load. if anything i might try a load of military jeeps if my other loads dont work. thanks gary d
  5. hey great looking job, love it! so i was wondering the rivits you did, where do i find them tichy train things ?
  6. hey thanks guys. thank you so much. the aluminum foil tip is great. i love just reading on here and seeing the tips people have for tricks its amazing, who they come up with this stuff is beound me !
  7. so, first of i think im looking for results to fast. its been years since i've done a model. heck. i wire a distrbutor when i was 14. anyhow im doing the revell 1/25 peterbuilt and i know in the end its going to be on a shell, but i want something i can point out to people just what ive done. so again here is a list of question and open thoughts. 1. seeing the seem line after glueing something together. such as a fuel tank. is it something ijust need to take time with and use filler putty? and if so how do i then get that crome plated look again or do i just use a can of chrom paint ? (not as mirror like but color is close) 2. how do most people assemble there models ? i mean what are some of your favorite was to do it ? what have you learned is best ? as in put a bunh of suspention parts together then paint for a more uniform look ? then if you wanna detail a item (all of frame suspention black. then come paint shocks red later? im thinkin that might be a stupid question but i'll ask it. 3. when you do paint spray or by hand, what is the minimum time till i can touch it. as in whats best 1 day 1 week ? i feel i always get oily finger marks. so im sure gloves is a good start! 4. is it good to make a list of what you wanna do with model, as in what you want it to show ? i wana put a drop axle on it at some point, find a step deck(or make one lol someday) and haul construction equepment. so along them lines being a beginner is doing advanced things like streching it and adding a drop axel felling hole/ changing body something i do later in advance? im sure these are odd/dumb question but i really wanna enjoy this hobbie. and i dont wanna loose a drive for it, i think looking at the model mags has made me reach for a platu that i shouldnt be looking for this early in the game !! thanks gary
  8. thank you guys so much for the info. yeah, i i might pass on the one coat laqur if its such a problem or just pass on the flat white for a primer. the trailer is comming along good, i made something that looks like a hopper, but thats as far as i'll take it. i just got to get my angle right, and im sure it will work alot better. i seen someone on her from denmark had done it from scratch. hopefully he checks his mail and is able to help give pointers on this project! thanks again gary devonshire
  9. im building a wilson grain trailer from scratch in 1/25th scale. the trailer is 41 feet. so my math is this 41x12=492/25= 19.68 so my trailer in scale would be just under 19 and 3/4 inch long ? i wanna make sure im doing that right. 2. orange peel, im painting using spray cans testors flat for a primer and i do see a little organe peel. Any advice on how to combat this ? will this come out with sanding ? im plaining on finishing it with testors new laqour coats. 3. putty when feeling holes and stuff should it be smooth to touch? as in cant detect it via your finger nail? or will some of this dissaper as the paint is apllied ? thank gary devonshire
