  1. If you (or anyone else) want any more of the "rolls of steel" to display it I have the ones from my trailer that I'm not using , they're no use to me (and free :) )

Hey thanks for that offer! Actually, I'm okay. I had mine in my drawer while working on this. Probably will leave them off, working on side kit now for covered wagon.

  2. There actually is one. Czech Truck Modell makes one, and you can usually get it from The Model Maker Shop. It's not currently listed, but I have seen it there before. http://www.modelmake...sk7k9d7c4tn6ig0

Also, Harold Weber from Germany (hw962c@gmx.de) makes a set.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions...took a little break from the truck..OT, but i threw together a pro street Nova for my brother in-law..my sister is having a little Boy in June, so i wanted to be the first to give him a Hot Rod...please don't bash me for using the truck forum for this..haha!

  3. Hey this gets better and better Joe! I'll agree with Justin for the black wash on the grill and Freightliner logo, It's going to make it stand out and look better. But It's coming along really well. It's going to look good with a chemical trailer.

Thanks Bob, I like that older look for sure. I remember my dad running a double bunk K-100 with an acid trailer back in the 70's. I always thought that looked so cool. Then again I'm a cabover nut! I'm adding my airfilters under the cab today. Then on to the motor and plumbing. I appreciate the compliments. I'm just getting back into this stuff cause of my 3 yr old, I want to put this stuff on his shelf like my dad did for me. I have so much to learn, you guys do some awesome stuff on here.

  4. Straight pipes added, still a lot to do. I will plumb everything later. Going to take each of my 359 air filters and hang them under the cab on each side of the frame next. Kept the stacks short for pulling Chemicals. Trailer will be next when this is complete. Thinking on adding a product hose rack behind the stacks/air breathers? Also may add a small fitting box on the chassis to simulate holding 2" and 3" adapters for Chemical hoses.

  5. I am 45 i just got back into modeling 2 yrs ago I statred when i was 8yrs old .Me and my dad would go in a old store called woolworths dont know if anyone heard of this??And k-mart also !But they carried all the amt kits for $10.00 or under.Well i had collected all theses kits some were un-painted until i got older and a hold of a paint can then advanced to the minature spray gun ! I had every amt kit and revell kit and the monogram 1/16 series when i moved alot of them were losing parts and i threw them all in the garbage !!SMACK i could kick myself int the now for what i see these kits for on evil bay I even had all the monogram 1/32 pete and kw models and the amt 1/43 models i just threw them all in the garbage. The only place close to me that carries any model semi trucks is Michaels they carry the 359 revell snap kit they ask 25.00 for it which isnt bad compared to evil bay ive seen people tryen to get $200.00 out of them But thats wgy i buy used stuff on evil bay i cant afford to pay over $50.00 a kit i think it is ridiculus what theses kits go for if i have to pay $500.00 for a plastic model i will give this up and buy the real trucks lol

AGREED! I can wait to see who reproduces something next. Like the 1/16 scale Pete 359. I got one for my birthday when I was a kid..(now 44), and now it will be available. My local Hobby guy already has my order and will set it aside when it comes in. It's just a matter of time before most of them come back.

  6. I know someone that sold his sealed Rubber Duck kit on ebay and got an unbelievable $800.00 + for it.

You're right! these people are sick! i guess that's why round 2 caught on and said, "we could do these for 1/4 the price." I hope they keep reproducing these models. I want to pick up a transtar cabover next, but I don't want to second mortgage my house. My local hobby shop has an original 359 California hauler for $70, man I guess that's a steal?

  7. Yep, I knew it, it looks mean now. Now let's see it with a dual exhaust!

Thanks so much guys! yeah, i should get the exhaust mocked up today. I have to cut some alluminum tube and get the height i'm looking for. I'm not going to tall with the stacks cause the truck is a chemical hauler, here in Jersey, we always had them cut down a little to clear low over passes in the cities. When I ran a gasoline tanker we were always going under 13' overpasses. So, I will probably keep the same thought pulling an acid trailer. I didn't go too high with the breathers also.

  8. Looking good! If you did a blackwash on the grill and the front logo that would look real nice with it too.

Thanks, I may borrow that idea? It sure would look cool!..I did some more work on the breathers, chrome tops are from a 359. I still have to plumb everything once the engine is in. I also added a Diamond plate chassis platform. It had some old slight discoloration, so I left it that way, kind of looks like someone was walking on it.

  9. Very nice work on the paint and stripe job. This truck is going to look very cool when complete. I really like cabovers.

Thanks so much..You have some real cool trucks too!..I grew up around Cabovers with my Dad, and I drove them too after serving in the Military. My dad had Emeryvilles and H-67's and later ran Transtars and K-100's among a hundred other trucks over his career. I'm very partial to them also, but anything mechanical and moves equipment is cool anyway. He's now retired and busy building his dream 32 Ford 5 window in the garage.

  10. Been doing a few things since last week. I recieved my Chemical Leaman decals from Model Truckin.com, they are beautiful!..The overall look I wanted was a late 70's Owner Operator tractor, so that is why The Company decal is not on the door. I basically have it mocked up for some pics..I plan on straight pipes and dual air breathers behind the cab..I seen one at a show years ago and the real tractor looked sharp. I stretched the chassic a scale 25" and pushed the fuel tanks back and even with each other...So much more to do.. I plan on scratch building an Acid trailer and adding the other Chemical Leaman decals.
