  1. Great project, I like where it's going. If you take a look at my thread on a '77 restoration/build, I show how to correct the bed to standard wheel base, and it's not very complicated.
  2. I had no idea what these were until they restored one on Wheeler Dealers.
  3. Very nice builds, Tommy. A great, and unique collection for sure.
  4. The recasters are a fact of life in the resin world. But a few things should be noted: 1) They never get very far, and they never get ahead. 2) Their quality is garbage, word gets out fast, and they always seem to dry up and blow away. 3) As people go, they aren't very bright, they are rude to their customers, and are generally their own worst enemies. To the creators of original masters or legitimate sellers of same, they are an annoyance, like a fly in your face or gum on your loafers; but they don't meaningfully affect the bottom line or equally importantly, your reputation.
  5. Super crisp!
  6. Will be very interesting to see what is really there hidden away. That Comet is the tip of the iceberg, I have a feeling.
  7. You could always un-chop it...
  8. With all of the feelings about Harry of late, I've been thinking about something I could do as a modest honor of sorts. Adding mirrors to something of mine seemed appropriate, and it had to be something that he commented on. Looking around, this came up. Problem: Where do you find 1:32 scale '70s style chrome mirrors? Solution: In the AMT '70s Ford pickup kits. Gee, I thought everyone knew that. Those goofy little mirrors that are way too small for the 1:25 trucks are just about right for 1:32 cars. So...
  9. That original body is far nicer and more accurate than the '90s version. Great find.
  10. See more in this thread: Pretty graphic.
  11. Yep, you need lots or room to have a 1:18 collection, so I just buy the ones I really like, or have/had in 1:1 scale. And I already have too many. The resin bodied cars are nice, but resin isn't as strong as zamac (pot metal) and as such, they can't have opening doors or hood, because the hinges wouldn't take any stress, and the roof pillars are more susceptible to damage. They are marketed as high-end collectibles and sold at a higher price, which may be a bad move for sales; as it can't cost more to produce a resin curbside car than a full-detail diecast car.
  12. How about '65-'66 Ford F-100s? Long bed, short bed, plain, Custom Cab, etc.
  13. Kinda like these? http://www.fireballmodels.info/images/FMR-105.jpg
  14. It was a great freeway car, Bill, but it got 10MPG with a tailwind, so we didn't take it much. I sold it on Ebay around 7-8 years ago, I think it went to a suburb of Pittsburgh. The new owner was astounded at how rust free it was. I told him, "That's why you bought an AZ car - was there ever any doubt?"
  15. I used to own a '78 New Yorker Brougham, the last (and slowest) 440 Mopar car. But it was fun, and had a ride like your living room couch on top of three mattresses. Basically a deep-fried stick of butter on wheels.
  16. Chief Joseph/Fireball Modelworks offers the Bronco/'66 Galaxie wheelcovers in corrected form.
  17. For those who missed out on the Modelhaus Shasta, this Greenlight 1:24 version looks like a good substitute: Different sellers seem to carry different colors, I've seen red, blue, yellow, and green. Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, etc.
  18. I just got Joseph's Bronco flares and detail kit (scripts, ultra-realistic covered steel spare wheel with something I've never seen - fine detail of the back of a steel wheel, along with Holley carbs and other parts. Never a disappointment, always the highest quality that the resin world has to offer. Thinking about ordering something from Fireball? Just do it!
  19. Vert nice job on this one, proportions look right on.
  20. Building a cool project on which to build cool projects!
  21. I've actually worked on one. If the top motor fails, you are trapped in the car. Not a great feature.
  22. Amazing. Classic design meets high tech building methods, showing once again that this hobby isn't going anywhere; it just keeps on evolving and getting more interesting. Always a fan of the Delehayes, this "Dele-A" is firing on all eight in design and execution. A game changer for sure.
