  1. The decorative plaques on the sides of the engine block were brush painted gold, then I flowed a black wash on them to emphasize the lettering. The lettering is very crisply molded and is completely legible (but tiny!)...
  2. Here is the "dashboard." There are a lot fewer parts here than you think... a lot of it is just "paint detailing" to make it look like there are more parts here than there really are. Gauges are kit decals, the "glass" over them is 5-minute epoxy...
  3. Got some work done on this one this weekend... the kit has no headlights, so I found a suitable pair in my parts box that could be modified. First step was to fill in the open areas where "glass" was supposed to go... I added the fronts to the lights... they are actually 1/25 scale intake stacks from a model car, with 5-minute epoxy as the "glass." I also scratchbuilt the headlight mounts, and the license plate bracket. Here is the front of the boiler with the front axle attached...
  4. Ok, Greg... so what's the answer? What were we supposed to figure out?
  5. No, DC is its own self-contained entity and is not a part of any state. I can't make out the upper plate, but the lower one is Maryland (MD). Makes sense, since Maryland literally surrounds DC on three sides, the Potomac River being the fourth side.
  6. I think those are wrinkles in the material, not frozen water. Looks like a sort of hood blanket/rediator cover combo piece the car is wearing.

  8. That same corner today; corner of 10th St. and R Street NW... Washington DC...
  9. Somebody reported the post, so just to keep things quiet I hid it. You didn't say anything overtly political, but your comments sure opened the door for someone else to reply with a political rant. Like Barney Fife used to say, ya gotta nip it in the bud, Ange...
  10. People used to put the chains on at the beginning of the winter season and leave them on. The fact that there's no snow on the ground doesn't mean anything. Maybe it was a warmish day and it had all melted, but that didn't mean everyone went out and removed their chains for the day. You can see snow on the tree branches and the grass behind the fence, and accumulated on the parked car that looks like it had been sitting there for a while... so obviously it had snowed recently.
  11. No politics, please.
  12. I don't know what the "story" is here, but I agree the photo looks to have been digitally colorized.
  13. And now you know who my two favorite artists are!
  14. Nobody? Hint: It's a quote from one of my two favorite artists,,,
  15. "The greatest deception men suffer is their own opinion."
  16. Wheels are just a touch too big, IMO, but otherwise it looks very cool. That is one slick Falcon! BTW... just how many models do you build in a year? About a thousand?
  17. Well, then that's quite a slipup on Moebius' part. Obviously there was supposed to be some sort of center cap emblem there, otherwise why would they have molded the wheels with a hole in the center?
  18. Are you going to get those brass frames plated?
  19. You forgot the coolant hoses between radiator and engine!
  20. Is there something missing from the wheel centers? Looks like there's a hole there where maybe a Hudson logo goes? Or is that the way the kit is?
  21. Tom Daniel designed the Drag-u-la. And the Munster's Koach.
  22. Doing a google search to find the answer sort of defeats the purpose of the game. The point is to look at the photo and try to figure out if it's real or a model. I can see doing a google search when you're trying to find the answer to an Auto ID Quiz... but for ROM, all you should be using is your eyes.
