Your painting issue turned out great. Like the red lines.

Great looking paint finish and color. Like the interior detailing.
-
Great looking paint treatment and trim. The engine swap looks good. Like the wheels and tires you used.

Cool looking Shelby and I like the paint work. I would have gone with the '55 Chevy, but maybe you'll post that build later.

Man, I seem to have set off a storm of question concerning my post on this subject. I should have made it clear that I was trying to show what I believe is the mind set of all too many drivers. First too David Gurga. What I was putting forward was that I was in complete agreement with what you were saying. Obviously, I should have mentioned that I was putting forward what I think the logic might be of the drivers you were describing. I didn't realize that your area had four lane hiways since I'm accustomed to the 3 lanes in this area. As for the ABS brake comment, again this is the mindset of the offending driver. The offender in this case may be thinking, provided they even bothered to look, that the driver with the right of way will be able to slow down or even stop without hitting them. Also, on the ABS subject. ABS brakes are a great assist in stopping or slowing down in driving conditions that have detreated because of weather or other conditions. Normally you wouldn't experience the use if ABS in dry road conditions unless a driver runs a red light or pulls through a stop sign directly in front of you. As for passing on the right-hand lanes, the problem seems to be that many think that they can drive whatever speed the want in any lane they want on a multilane hiway. Every state driver's manual I have ever seen addresses this at some point. Locally here all too many drivers roll through a red light and only stop if someone is coming with the right of way. Stop signs are treated in much the same manor, and as for Yield signs they seem to ignore them altogether. I would like to see law enforcement become more aggressive in sighting these drivers that aren't following the basic rules of the road.

Drivers running red lights have a better chance of not getting hit since late model cars usually have ABS brakes.

Unfortunately, this style of driving is more prevalent that you may think. Stop signs seem to be considered only a suggestion. With the advent of ABS braking systems, it is far safer to make right turns thru red lights than it used to be. As for passing another car on the right, what are you supposed to do if the other car is sitting in the fast lane going half of the posted speed limit?

Alway fun to build a model of a vehicle that had an impact on your life. Looks like your uncle took pretty good care of his VW.

Beautiful looking finish and the attention to the smallest detail. This is the type of build you have to look at for a time and study all that has been done.
-
Beautiful looking finishes and great mechanical detailing.

Every now and then you can get lucky with a kit done in colored plastic, and the color looks good. The chrome trim really makes this standout.
-
Great looking paint work and cleanly done chrome trim.
-
Great sinister looking build. The paint finish looks great, and the gold striping looks good as well.

Beautiful looking paint finish and like the sparkle from the Pearl Clear. The extra efforts detailing the interior really look good. Like the light weathering on the engine and chassis. Even the cast iron exhaust manifolds look to have the correct finish along with the chipping paint on the engine oil pan. You got the stance.

Great looking interior and chassis.

Glad you described all of the details of this build, makes easier to see and appreciate all of the details. Very creative build.

Amazing job envisioning all of the different body components and then blending them together seamlessly. Looking at it from some angles reminds me of the old electric car rides from the county fairs of old. Looks doable in 1:1 as well.
-
Great looking color combination.

Like the Kustom body work on the Nomad.
-
Great looking finishes and like the traditional build style. Your friend can show the model with his car at the next show & shine.
-
Like the color and the clean chrome trim. The body proportions on this kit always looked exact to me. One thing to remember with this kit. This was first issued in 1959 and was as good as it got at that time. Basically, an unassembled Promo. Your finishes made it look great.

Great looking paint color and finish. I share your appreciation of this body style, but I can only recall seeing them in Rally Racing. The wheels and trim look good against the body color.

Datsun Truck
espo replied to dougwintz's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great looking paint work and engine detailing. Datsun offered a shade of orange just like this and was a commonly seen color for these in my neighborhood. The wheels and tires look good on this.
