  1. I'm going to follow this. I have a couple of both these kits so this is valuable information.
  2. Those are great looking decals.
  3. Should you lose interest in that '66 Bonneville I may have something you would rather have to trade.
  4. That is one fine looking Dodge you got there. I like the "Arrest Me Red" paint job.
  5. Great looking setup. I like your inventory. The heating problem you mentioned, I noticed an overhead duct in your area. I have cut into one of these ducts in a part of our basement and installed a Home Depot type register that you can adjust the flow with. This will work with your Air Conditioning in the same way. If you don't already have a dehumidifier I would suggest getting on to remove some of the humidity from the air in the basement. This may help extend the life of decals and card board boxes.
  6. Check the Hobby Lobby Stores in your area. We were out foraging yesterday and I saw the two I go to were open. The big 2 story tall and a couple of city blocks long shopping center across the street was closed completely. I understand that Hobby Lobby is trying to stay open and some states are trying to shut them down, so I would hurry if you're out of supplies.
  7. Not sure if this is directly related, but it does involve Future. I have been using Future to treat a kit's glass for some time. The build I have now had a spot in the center of the headliner that needed to be touched up. I lightly covered the spot by brush when it slipped out of my hand and left a couple of spots on the inside of the windshield. I was using decanted Tamiya AS-7 Gray. My first attempt was a water wetted cloth that managed to smear it a little. Next attempt was with Q-Tips and some Tamiya X-20A Thinner. This got the paint almost removed but it looked like I was also messing with the Future. Finally I finished it with some Meguiar's Plastx polish and that seemed to get the rest of the residue off the inside of the windshield. The windshield looks fine now, but I wonder if I should even keep using Future going forward ?
  8. I'll have to remember that if I should ever relocate. Sounds as if it's your own fault if you can't have a little fun in Washington. I have visited several times through the years and especially like the Olympic area. I have spent some rainy days at Pikes Market and enjoyed every minuet.
  9. The "Babylon-on-the-Potomac", I love it and wish I had been there. I have had a few dubious times during my miss spent youth.
  10. I looked again this morning. Seems like about every 30 minuets there is a upper 2 too a lower 3, except when it goes off a few times as close as 5 minuets to 10 minuets. The reason I mentioned structural damage is that once a building is damaged every after shock increases the chances of further damage from the constant shaking. I hope you and your family and friends are safe. This is a hard time to self isolate yourself if you don't have a safe place to do that. Stay safe and well.
  11. I have to agree with everyone about the Charger should have been a two door. Time and needs can change your life and how you view a certain car. Last year we replaced are beloved '10 Charger RT with AWD with a new '19 Charger GT with AWD. I still wish it was a coupe, but I sure love it as a driver. Look forward to your coupe build.
  12. The Road Kill guys didn't invent this but they sure brought a lot of attention to this sort of car. I like the Viper idea for your build, I might even consider keeping the hood over the engine. In many ways this isn't any different than the pre war guys striping down a '30's era car or truck. The guys today that are tearing up late model Corvettes or Vipers my live to regret such things, but in the mean time it sounds like a lot of fun to be had.
  13. I think that AMT offered a '36 Ford that could be built as a roadster or a three window with the option of a chopped top. The chopped top part was a single part and extended below the side body moldings. Someone is bound to have one that they would trade to you.
  14. First let me say that is a beautiful looking '57. You mentioned that you have interior door cards from a '56 in your car. The Revell '56 Chevrolet kit has an interior very close to what the pictures of your interior look like. That kit has the interior called Del Ray that was an upgrade option to the standard 210 interior. The interior side panels may even interchange with your '57 kit. The front ride height can be easily change with moving the front wheel mounting point higher up on the front spindles if need be.
  15. I like the super glue idea, but he might not connect it with his prior theft of your belongings. I 'm glad to see some justice is served here. The clerk took a big chance. You Tube has many of these confrontation videos to see and they're funny to watch. Since this guy was guilty of so many other offensives its good to have him out of the neighborhood.
  16. I'm a little surprised by the number of members here that don't seem to appreciate the seat belts in their vehicles. I don't wish anyone to have an accident but wonder how many of the nonusers have been in an accident and not wearing they seat belts, how did that end for you ? Think about it a moment. Your car and your body in the car are moving forward at say 50 mph. The car strikes a fixed object and suddenly stops. Your body is still going 50 mph when you hit the steering wheel, dash board, and whatever else there is between you and the windshield. Something like this might change your mind about seatbelt usage, and it might even be brought about by someone else who is doing whatever in stead of driving. I had a similar experience once during my misspent youth and hit a tree that didn't use the cross walk. The steering wheel was able to absorb most of my impact with a great deal of pain but my head still managed to get in contact with the windshield. This was a head ache like non I had ever experienced and fortunately it only took a half a dozen stitches to get my forehead back together. I wasn't going 50 mph and the tree only made it a third of the way into the hood and dislodged the engine from its mountings. Totaled car and almost myself. This may explain why I personally appreciate seat belts and air bags and such.
  17. I have been watching this activity on the USGS site. In the past it has been Porto Rico that seems to have them all day every day. The last two days your area in Idaho has out numbered them. A 6.5 is considered a major shake, but the constant 3+'s almost every 20 too 30 minuets and often more frequently then that are the ones that really get my attention. Any structures that are damaged during the large events are often compromised further by the many after shocks.
  18. It is nice to have a little TP stored for unforeseen circumstances. I am starting to be a little concerned now that I can see the basement wall behind were we keep our supply. I was able to score a Charmin Wipes the other day. You're allowed only one and the humorless lady at the checkout made be put the others back on the shelf. Eggs are now available but Ice Cream is in critical shortage at this time. I like the "Golden Hour Shopping" for people in my age group, but I think they would be better to offer this at some other time in the morning then when I'm having my morning Prune breakfast.

    Jobs

We are interring what is known as the "Orange Barrel Season" here. The good news is that the major road projects, and there are a few, are moving ahead nicely since the traffic has been reduced and as pointed out the workers themselves aren't in close contact with one another.
  20. Fortunately someone in the past made a card board structure to protect the windshield frame. This is in remarkable condition for a 57 year old kit, just think about that, this has been around all that time and is still intact. The after market styling for the Custom version was a little funky even then.
  21. This cleaned up really nice. The hood color doesn't look that far off depending on the viewing angle. When you do get to doing a full redo don't forget the black panted section of the tail gate.
  22. Beautiful looking build. The paint work especially. Nice to see a build of one of these stately old cars.
  23. Great looking Gasser Vette. I like the flames also. The fit and finish is really nice.
  24. Great looking rebuild. I always liked the overdone Bass Boat style Metal Flake Gelcoat they used on the 1:1's. The white seats look good against the blue body.
  25. Glad to see you're giving this AMC a little love. Somewhere on this forum there are builders groaning because they work so hard to create a paint finish like this.
