  1. The body is looking real smooth. You mentioned the hood and the ridge down the center. I had a build that I removed the very small ridge running down the center of the hood. The effect when finished gave that model a much wider and even lower look without standing out as the reason for the appearance.
  2. In the early fifties this was more common than you may realize. No way of knowing how many different keys GM used in that era but it wasn't many. I can remember hanging out with friends and Chevrolets were a common car to own,. There were times when they would go around where we were parked and open each others trunks just for fun. We were easily entertained back then.
  3. This is just a personal observation. Most of the older trucks with wooden floors, the floor was more on the order of a thin black protective paint finish. Even in later years, the '74 Chevrolet step side I bought new the wood was painted the same color as the body. Now with use the woodgrain would start to show thru the black paint to some extent depending on it's use.
  4. The European rigs look so much better than the klunkers around here. Wait for it, the hate mail is about to arrive in my in box.
  5. I like the lines of the '61 Chevrolets and the roof design in particular so I would tend to leave it as is. Maybe make a Ute by removing the center of the trunk lid and turn the rest of the trunk into a tailgate of some sort. This is just weird enough to be interesting. I wonder how they did the X frame and two part drive shaft.
  6. I have always wondered why Revell or some other company has never issued a Super 88 hardtop like this.
  7. While that's something I wouldn't do, it is interesting enough that it could/should be saved.
  8. I'm still wiping away the tears from laughing.
  9. I had to have a couple of trees removed about 5 years ago. The big loss was the Sunset Maple, you would have to see this tree in the fall to appreciate the color, and a very soft wood tree that grew out of the mulch one summer and the wind had knocked the top off of it. The guy that took them down was less than half the price of everyone else. He told me that he got paid for the chipped wood at a company in town that made mulch that was bagged and sold at Home Depot and Lowes. Maybe this should be under 'WHAT MADE YOUR DAY" instead.
  10. Very clean and realistic looking. The ones that I remember seeing were painted red, but they may have been a different model. The more I look at the details in the picture it looks very real to my eyes.
  11. I recall you asking about info on a possible original color for this. Interesting looking concept and I like how you finished it.
  12. I agree with David G the light touch of mud like you might get from a puddle or two looks great, and the bed shows it's new on the job.
  13. The story I was told was that Plymouth couldn't use the Aero package the way that Dodge had. Richard got sideways with Mopar over it and he went with Ford that one season. Just so happened I was employed by Union Oil Company at the time and worked out of the Colton Ca. Distribution Center at the time. One of our duties was to bring the race gas from the Union Oil Brea Research Center to the Riverside Raceway for any racing events. This put me in the pits early one morning during the drivers practice sessions and Richard had gotten off line thru the S's. The buildings in the garage area were built a couple of feet higher than the surrounding black top to aid in drainage during heavy rains I guess. So I walked done a couple rows of garages and there someone had this blue Ford Torino jacked up from the low side on a single floor jack and he's crawling around under the car on a creeper and a garden type hose washing the underside of the car. The only other person around has his back to me as I walk up and I ask what was going on. You'll never guess who turns around and with a very slight smile says he kind'a of got off course. One of the nicest and unassuming person I have ever met. That's my Petty story and how I came to know that he drove a Ford for a year anyway.
  14. This paint work really looks nice. You can appreciate all the body work, just compare this to the before picture.
  15. I would think that if the neighbors tree causes damage to your property then the tree's owner is legally responsible. Also you may even have legal rights to remove any branches from said tree if it is over your property line. I agree with the suggestion to get some background legal issues straightened out first before approaching your new neighbor. Your neighbor may even have recourse against the previous owner if they have recorded that they had misstated the property line. The Title Company that handled their closing should have provided a legal description of the property lines based on the Counties Recorder of Deeds. I wouldn't wait any longer then you have to since the longer you wait you are reinforcing the new owners position in a legal sense.
  16. So sorry for your loss. Never easy when you lose a member of the family like this.
  17. I got the pictures and they look great. Very cleanly detailed. WW's on a Yanko, way not, makes it kind of a sleeper.
  18. Just think of all the money you wasted if you had bought a Day Planner for 2020.
  19. Your methods of weathering a model always make your builds a standout. Great subject and I like the flat bed with the working wench.
  20. I looks forward to this. I like the way the kit's roof and windshield are chopped.
  21. Beautiful looking engine and chassis. What color did you use on the carbs ?
  22. I like this color also, with this different shade I can see how it would stand out. The kit looks like it's very well done. This Rabbit has me thinking I would like to try one.
  23. Great looking craftsmanship on this pedal setup.
  24. The engine swap is much like a 1:1 build, but you got it in. I like how your wood work on the body is going.
  25. I like this theme. I agree, saving the old Edsel roof may come in handy someday. I did the same thing with the roof off of the AMT '57 Ford hardtop, used it over 20 years later.
