  1. I think I would agree. As I remember the "arms" were extended forward on the Black Bug that I saw at the car show. Thinking about it the steering linkage would be hard to connect to the steering box in a safe fashion. The best way may be to use an I beam type suspension of some sort. on a 1:1.
  2. Sounds like the so called inspector may not be as qualified as he thinks. Went thru the same type of deal on our last house. I went over the listed problems in our case with the buyers and their agent our agent was useless. The big sticking point was the inspector thought the basement was flooding because there was water on a hole in the floor. I demonstrated how a sump pump works and with everything else explained they bought the house. If you have really hard water in your area hot water heaters seem to start leaking in 5 to 6 years, in our case anyway. We just replaced the builder grade air conditioner after 19 years. I'd get a second opinion from someone who knows what their doing and have your agent re contact the buyer.
  3. Hope to see some pictures next week.
  4. I'd say you're doing the suspension just fine. Looks almost like an air suspension system that's aired down. Might have a hard time turning a corner the way it sits right now. I like the way you grafted the front suspension in.
  5. I think it can be doable in 1:1. The reason I say this is that at the local annual indoor car show there have been a few Bugs that looked like this was done and that's what made me think off it. I remember one in particular that was a father son project, it helps that they run a hot rod garage, and they had a fenderless, chopped top, flame painted black bug on display. I should have taken a picture, but it looked like they had done something on this order. But now we're talking plastic scale models, and the engineering does seem to change sometimes.

Very clean looking build and the paint work looks great.

Very nicely done. Looks like the Mustang had better brakes than the Trans Am.
  8. Try and find an AMT '49 Mercury kit or the '50 Ford Convertible/Hardtop kit. They both offered some pretty nice finned aluminum heads and two - twos. I think the Revell '37 Ford pickup and their early '40 Ford pickup had some heads and carb's also. The Revell '50 Ford F-1 pickup had the Arden heads and three - two's if that is of interest.
  9. You might try turning the front torsion tubes around. The front suspension is pretty much one part and by mounting the front side of the tubes to the frame would move your front tires forward a good bit.
  10. Beautiful looking distressing on the finish. Looking at all the little details takes a while but fun as you start to notice all of the details. The orange Come-Along and Schlitz Beer ? I haven't had a Schlitz seins before I was of drinking age sometime in the last century.
  11. Great looking group of builds. I'm partial to the El Camino and the Trans Am but would be proud to have built any of these.
  12. That's the one I was thinking of. I didn't remember it being from MPC. I had a chance to buy one of these 1:1 campers on a Chevrolet chassis in the late '60's. The guy had already worn out the engine, lack of maintenance on his part, and the interior looked like they had a wild poker party that got out of hand and they never cleaned it. I think it was around 1969 or '70. I passed at $1000.00 .
  13. Two sons and I only changed one diaper. I hurled for the better part of an hour.
  14. Great looking trophies. I hope we'll be able to see pictures of the event.
  15. Look forward to seeing pictures of this event soon.
  16. I don't normally build this type of kit, but I'll be getting one of these. Just to nice not to build at least one.
  17. The before pictures look more like a Destruction Derby car than a race car. Great save here. the hub caps were one of the standard parts in these early AMT 3 in 1's.
  18. Beautiful looking finish. The interior looks great. I like the color a lot.
  19. Other than the hood prop it's very realistic looking. Great paint work and I like how you did the OEM stripes.
  20. I like your updated version. The roll bar is an interesting touch.
  21. I'd say you nailed the look perfectly. I like looking at all of the little details from the grill "pulls" to the gas tank. You can almost see the metal flake gold seat inserts. The sprint car style steering looks just right.
  22. Great looking build. I like the paint and interior colors.
  23. Beautiful looking build. Your paint work was fascinating to watch as it came together. The window cooler looks perfect.
  24. You did an amazing job on this conversion. I like the Taxi livery on this. Great paint and I enjoyed watching you work out all of the Taxi details.
  25. I guess at this point in time there is no problem storing it outside. Something about this car looks familiar, as if I had seen a picture of this same car. A lot of work to restore the 1:1 but I like the diorama idea.
