  1. Thanks guys! It does look sharp in black with the graphics.. They're meet little trucks that you never see anymore, at least around here.

I got the flares painted and inside roof done, next is the flat black around the rear window and door frames. After that it's BMF around the front window, door handles, lockss and tie downs on the box. I will BMF the tail lights and paint them clear red, clear orange and white. I also have to black wash all the panel lines in flat black.

  2. Thanks guys! Ahh that will help a bunch on looking up pictures, thanks! I just figured it was an 1985 since that was the year on the chassis.. I am not to big on imports, so it's hard for me to tell the years.

I got the decals applied and cleared it.. These were really hard decals to use since they were so thick and didn't want to stick well even with micro set and micro sol. After a lot of fighting I got them, I hope the automotive clear holds them down well. The clear also didn't wanna lay flat on the decals, but it's almost unnoticeable.

flares will be airbrushed with low gloss black, as well as the rear window rubber and door frames. The front trim will be BMF,d as well as the tie downs and door locks. Not sure on the handles, I'll have to look that up.

  3. Black is a hard color to get right, but it looks like it turned out for

Yeah black can be tricky! I will wet sand the black with 2000 and 4000 prior to applying decals and then I will lay a coat of eurothane automotive clear and that gives the glass look.

  4. This is my next build and it's another low parts count kit, so it shouldn't take to long.. I sanded all the mold lines off, scribed all the panel lines deeper, Tamiya primer and painted then painted in tamiya gloss black. Next is decals and clear, then satin black details. It's gonna have white rims, black/chrome trim with red interior.

  5. Thanks for the compliments guys!! This was another really fun build.. I like the old 1/24 scale monogram kits more and more.. I'm gonna track down a 71 GTX and do that one next! I used testors enamel light brown for the woodgrain parts, the ones in the little glass jars.

I got got it all finished up tonight.. I'll post some pics in under glass as well.

  6. Thanks guys! Yeah this kit is definitely worth picking up for the mopar collection.. The box art makes it look really toyish but it does build into a really nice kit.. It lacks detail on the firewall and door panels but it makes up for it everywhere else. It does bring challenges with the low parts count with detailing also.

  7. Thanks for the compliments! Yeah Hemi Orange and black go together very well.. I'd like to get the 71 GTX and 70 Roadrunner next and do them in the same colour and then I'll have a good collection of the 1/24 Monogram kits in Hemi Orange!

Got some painting done tonight.. This is suck a simple kit, there's only 3pcs to the whole chassis.

  8. Thanks!

I got got some more accomplished tonight.. This is such a simple kit that it almost makes it more challenging detailing parts since nothing is really separate, but I'm building it for what it is with no modifications.

  9. MrBuick, thanks for the compliment! I used microsol and microset on my decals and it almost melts them to the body. You should give it a try! You'll be impressed on the angles and curves you can lay decals on without wrinkles and it makes them adhere a lot better.

Yeah the the billboards are awesome on the 71 Cuda.. I like the vents in the fender as well.

  10. Thanks guys for the compliments! I did fix the fitment issue with the hood already, I just sanded the rear carb down a bit.

I buy my paint at the local body shop supply store.. I have two gallons of Hemi Orange for my 1:1 car so that's why a few models are being done in this colour.

Got some accomplished on the body today..

  11. Yeah I was the same way till I seen a few 71 Cudas in person and I do prefer them over the 70 unless it's an AAR!

Got it painted today.. Alot of tiny parts to paint so I glued some Spurs to the pieces so I had something to hold on to.

    Glasurit Hemi Orange base/clear.

  12. I started this kit A couple days ago and got some accomplished.. While cutting the front valence in the correct spot (like I did with the Revell 1970 challenger T/A kit) I slipped with the knife and cut my thumb really bad so I haven't really touched it lately.. If I'm feeling up to it I will paint the body tomorrow. So far I cleaned up the body of mold lines, scribed all the panel lines and fixed the front valence. I also got the engine block glued together and painted Hemi Orange.

I stripped the chrome off the bumpers, alternator, valve covers and carb since they will be painted. I also partelly assembled the interior tub, chassis and motor to fix the hood problem where the shaker scoop sits to high.. I just sanded down the rear carb a bit and now it's perfect.

Its going Hemi Orange (painted bumper car) with the billboard decals and black interior.. I will wire the engine and flock the interior.

  13. Thanks guys! I never got a chance to take some daylight pics yet.. I did put the good year decals on the tires but they were so yellowed from the old decal backing paper that they ended up looking like garbage so I took them off... Any tips on removing the yellowing behind old decals?

I started on the Revell 71 Hemi cuda and it's getting the Hemi Orange as well. I'll make a post on it soon!

  14. Thanks guys! I found some Good Year polyglass decals so I'm gonna put them on the tires later tonight.. They're from the Revell Ford Talladega kit (from 1998 when they had branded raised letter tires and made in the USA kits)
