man, these are some killer models, I love the imagination being displayed. And Cranky, I really hope the surgery goes well on Momma Cranky, best wishes my friend.

The wheels came with the Swampers that I purchased on Ebay. I don't remember the seller but they are on there all the time and for cheap money.
thanks, this will help a ton

Here are a few more small updates.
I added the brackets for some small tools that are mounted on the sides. These will eventually be weathered to blend in with everything else. Next is the ammo belt being fed into the gun. I stretched a piece of electrical tape out on the workbench, upside down and taped down each end to hold it in place then cut small pieces of styrene rod along the tape and when I had enough length glued the belt in to place.
The final update was to create the ladder to the turret opening. I also added the antenna. All of these items will be weathered to blend them in as well.
plz tell me where you got those rims, I have a set of the same tires that I intend to put on an F350 dually, but no rims to use for them, and I think those rims would be perfect, and by the way, really sweet work on the rig, I wouldn't wanna be in front of it without my rig

I'd like in in this if it's ok. But I been a little help. What can I use for guns? I'd like a quad 50 or twin minigun but would consider something else. The build would be in 1:25 scale.
You could try to use small gage sprew, and drilling them out, as well as drilling the support structure for the muzzles so as the barrels can easily fit threw, iether that, or you may need to get some small copper pipe, and I mean really small.

Updates, Updates! Everything is looking good from you guys. Hopefully mine will turn out that good. I need to do some casting for a .50 cal ma duece and such. But this is where I am now. I took the big step and no turnin' back now. The turret looks a little off but is actually centered in the cab. Shaved a bit much off one side so I will need to infill.
I took the lowboy trailer kit and hacked the center section out which made it perfect lenth. Then I plan to hack apart some of the transformers to build the roof turret section. Got the tires and wheels figured out thanks to Dave at AITM. We also figured cab mounts need raised and possible suspension lift. We'll see.
it appears that the c channel is working well for you, looks great, can't wait to see this truck done.

The Heartland Model Car Nationals will be on the 9th and 10th of June, I'll be getting as many photos as I can, and I'm trying to get my mud trucks ready for the show. My Widow Maker will be in it, I also have a 1984 Ford Bronco, 1991 lifted Ford F-250, 1975 Chevy K-5 Blazer, and a salvaged 1956 Ford pickup that'll be in the show. Can't wait to attend the show, and share the styrene beauties with you all!!!

Thanks Dennis. This build is a first for me on quite a few parts and mods.
No prob, anything I can do to help other people enjoy this hobby as much as I do, just makes me enjoy it more. To tell you the truth, the Widow Maker was the first post apocalyptic vehicle I ever tried, and I think it came out looking really good, you just gotta go with you're gut, and let the creativity flow into the model. Keep the truck coming, it's gonna be one mean looking Mack that'll put the Rubber Duck's to shame

Here we go, some new progress from Donn Yost. This thing is looking ready for some Zombie Killing!
This thing looks like a truly brutal monstrosity, I love it!!!! Please let Don know that I think it rocks

Mocked up front suspension:
I cut the frame in half and made a couple extensions. Now I need to figure out the best way of piecing it back together. Any suggestions?
I would try to fit some scale C channel into the rails, and then some larger channel for the extensions, from what I have seen of the over all design, the frame wouldn't be too visible on the truck to begin with, and it's easy to explain that the frame was " reinforced " for better durability in a possible impact

Next I have my re-rebuild of Fujimi's Mad Police Destroyer. I got this kit when I was probably 12 or 13. The kit makes no mention of what the cars are, but I have researched it and have found this to be a Nissan Cedric 430, they were a semi-luxury car, often used as police cars or taxis. I've tried to restore this kit to resemble the boxart.
Kinda interesting to know that the Cedric was Japan's Crown Victoria. Sweet build, it does have the Mad Maxx feel, although, I dunno if he would have a Nissan, a Falcon on the other hand......
-
I can certainly do that. Thanks again for all the inspiration guy's, your all doin some really great work. And thank you Dr. Cranky for comming up with the idea.
Here's the Chev again, it's also been converted to 4x4, a winch mounted to the roof and the air cleaner was made from an oil pan. Also added a sheet of steel behind the cab that moves up and down, to stop any stray bullets from hitting the driver or passanger
The Toyota's windsheild was made to look like the safety glass on a bank truck.
The gun in the box of the Chevy is the only weapen I have sadly. So all my vehicles are getting outfitted with sharp edges and saw/chain wheel blades.
you know, almost all the weapons on the Widow Maker are scratch built, it aint as hard as it looks
-
dude, I gotta get one of those trucks, where did you find it?
A whatsiewhat?
Oh, don't mind me. I'm going to have a lot of payhauler bits left when I;m done with this build. Flipping the dumper would probably give a suitable body for that beast.
The kit was missing wheels and engine parts.

I had grabbed these figures at Target tonight. Please add a caption to this photo.
Soldier 2 : " uh sir!!"
Soldier 1: "ye..... WTF!!! I told you not to get too close!!!!!!! MEDIC!!!!!!!!!!!"
-
Also just remembered a vehicle from a rather old movie (in movie years any way)
from the movie soldier.. could be a good post apocalyptic vehicle not very fast but heavily armored
this truck looks as if it was built off of a quarry dump truck, if there are any scale kits of one it would be easy to duplicate, but if there are no kits, you would have to scratch build the entire thing, not impossible, but difficult, and all worth while.

I thought I was done with the Widow Maker, but I realized, it didn't look right, so I added chains.
As you can see I added some chains that act as an emergency hood latch, connected to the big front ram, as well as a chain that would possibly be able to move land mindes if necassary. As well as a chain holding the service door ( was the passenger side door till the cannon got installed) for the cannon shut. as well as a chain holding the damaged side of the tail gate shut. and last but not least, a chain winch, to rip useful parts off of dead hulks of cars and trucks.
-
Hey Jerred I love the idea about the saw, looks like your truck and my Widow Maker might be the frontliners, you saw em apart, I blast em with the cannon
-
I used these exact tires, they look sweet, nice work so farJust a quick update with the tires mocked up.
-
couple more of my army of zommie/terminators the dogs are part of the team the first one is a home based machine if they get to close to the base!! the second one is the one that goes behind the first wave and restocked the fighters with guns ,etc. and also pick up "parts, metal or what ever is laying around that might be usefull to keep the army going ....i tell ya we need to invested in those HotWheels monster trucks,as many of us are using those tires ;)

Those with question marks next to your names, you have posted to this thread but have not made it clear if you ar joining or not. I have only posted select pieces of what people have said they will work on when they started or have let me know after I made this list, and have not really gone through and updated what you guys are actually working on. I counted 98, including the names with question marks.
If you guys email me what your building and the name of it, I will keep an updated list of who is working on what that I can post each week or two. Email me your name as it appears in my list or if you are not on the list and want to be (and if you are on the list and aren't participating), let me know at Uberdeath322@gmail.com. Any other info you want included in the list, let me know.
The Widow Maker is an AMT USA-1 Monster Truck that I gutted the running gear from, and decided to turn into what it is today, oddley enough, I finished the truck right after TZH fever had begun, good timing if I say so myself

Harold I use Plastruct bend it to the shape you want then pass it over a candle to set it! Just enough heet till you fell it relax! Or K&S aluminum tube with a smaller peice of Evergreen tube inside it keeps it from kinking! Or you could slice & dice the kit exhaust to fit! HTH!! PK
man this looks like it might be a sick rig, can't wait to see it done!
-
I used the Avenger to get my wheels for the Widow MakerOk picked up a Monster Jam. Here's a comparison between the 1/25 scale low profiles that came with my hummer model and the monster jam wheels which are on some versions are conveniently detachable (look for Bad New Travels Fast 27/80)

not exactly, the vehicles based off of a heavy road truck, like the Petes have frames that are capable of withstanding well over 100,000 lbs, but, the tires, unless you wish to place more axles under the vehicle to spread the weight more evenly among the tires as many heavy haulers do, you may blow out a few of the tires.
