  1. I don't know if it's the same color. It's a light tone of blue. Those cars started being build in 1969, only as four door sedans, and the two door hardtop came in 1970. If Chrysler do Brasil brought from the U.S. the tooling? I would say it's possible. In the case of the Galaxie (my cup of tea) I know that the production of the 1966 body style here started while the car was syill in full production in the U.S. and that Ford do Brasil made the tooling based on the engineering plans sent from Dearborn in late 1965. I think Chrysler should had done about the same thing.
  2. Y Blocks last forever. If it weren't by the U.S. blockade, parts would be a lot easier to find. I've being in Cuba twice, but the car I want when I move there, and I will in the future, is a GAZ 2424, or even a 2410, Drove a few there and fell in love.
  3. Yes, three kinds actually, one with a cam specific for trucks, another for regular Darts and Chargers (198cv) and the hotter cam, higher compression version for the Charger R/T, that had 215cv They were all 318s with two barrel carburetors. The "normal engines" were painted light blue, and the Charger R/T engines were painted gold. Here is the engine on a 1977 Charger R/T: Maycon's Garage 26/09/2012 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
  4. From the pictures, it looks like a color Fiat carries. Here in Brazil only Fiat and Ford offer some vibrant colors, what is very refreshing to see once in a while among all silver, white and gray cars.
  5. Thanks guys!! I hoped for some negative feedback, after all I installed s Great Ford engine into a not so great Chevy Richard, the very first of those kits I built as a teen was a disaster. Then, I had the idea of gluing the inner fenders and firewall to the body BEFORE painting and assembling anything else, and that solved all problems. This is my third '51 Chevy kit built this way, and it always work like a charm!! 1951 Chevy building by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy building by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy building by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
  6. Model. There are real car tracks on the sand, and they are way bigger. It's large scale tough, really large.
  7. Here is my '51 Chevy that provides motoring with V8 background music. Modified cars are really not my thing, so I build very few of them. Like I wanted a nice engine, I just dropped a Ford Thunderbird Special 312 V8 in the Chevy, complete with gearbox, and voilá, job done!! paint on this one is Tamiya Metallic Green from the spray can, followed by automotive two part clear. 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1951 Chevy Fleetline V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
  8. That's a work of art.
  9. Nicest car Mr. Bond ever drove, before we hit him in the early '70s.
  10. Very nice!! This car proves that Cragars are practically stock equipment for a nice '60s car. And also proves that 15" is the correct size for a wheel.
  11. Very nice. Built the same kit, and did almost the same improvements. Instead of Modelhaus tires I used Revell whitewalls. I like my model. It's not perfect, because of the mold lines and some dirt in the paint, but it was fun to build, and for sure I would like to build more of them. I wouldn't mind building a little fleet of pre-decorated Fords, so I guess I would be one of the builders "targeted" by this kind of kit.
  12. Yes, it looks lite it swallowed something and it didn't like it at all.
  13. Yeah, the voices made me do it...
  14. Got the hint Thanks about the paint!! That black Ford was painted with a spray can, as I didn't have an airbrush back in '91. There are places I polished good, like the hood, and other that have some orange peel, like the trunk. I polished it again when restoring it, but without sanding. I guess the old paint just refuses to "open a nice shine" after all this time. The yellow Ford was airbrushed with automotive paint, and I hope it outlasts the black one shining like new. Even tough, I used synthetic enamel, to get a shine as close as possible to the original car's finish when brand new.
  15. Thanks guys!! I'm planning to do just that. The only thing missing is a 1934 Ford kit to get the stock wheels from. I may end using the '34 Ford frame instead of a '36. The '34 kit is more detailed. The engine even has a dip stick. But first I'm going to finish my last build that I just started with flash removing, a 1936 Ford roadster, replica of the one from the movie Maxie.
  16. What??!! And trow away a perfectly good Ford engine?
  17. You actually improved this little car!! Always found it to be dull and no fun at all, but hey, now it is a fun car. Mine would have a stock paint, but the pick up conversion did the trick.
  18. Not into this kind of car, or build. I think now I have a nice spare Flathead, a frame, suspensions, and I also have one of that Revell 1932 Ford 3 window kits that can only be build butchered with non 1932 factory stock parts. Maybe I can convert that into a stock 3 window coupe.
  19. That looks great!! You couldn't had chosen a color that screams 1960's better. If you pay attention to the model on the box art of the 2002 issue, you will notice its a Dick Tracy kit build up, and NOT the kit actually in the box!! I think things were pretty weird at AMT at the time.
  20. Are you sure it was the Dick Tracy kit?? They all come molded in black. The newer issue has that odd retooling on the roof, and won't accept parts from a early kit.
  21. Yes, both of them. The older build is the Dick Tracy kit, issued in 1990. The yellow Ford is a newer issue from 2002. They have different five window tops. Sometime along the way between those two editions AMT retooled the roof.
  22. Thanks guys!! Even tough this little black coupe is a restored build, like I was able to save the paint I did back in '91, maybe the more accurate would be rejuvenation??? The only bugger is that I now have a Dick Tracy kit without chrome parts... Well, it's only plastic and I still have a mint one. One thing I did wrong when I built this model back in the day, was the rumble seat to trunk conversion. I glued the rumble seat shut, and then placed the chrome handle on the correct place for a trunk, but kept the rubber pads one uses to climb to the rumble seat on the rear fender and taillight. Oh the things you do when you are 13 years old...
  23. Very cool!!! Any pictures of the underside??
  24. Talk about resurrecting a post By the way, I just loved the 1960's vibe of those builds!!! Nothing of the high tech mediocrity we see every day more and more.
  25. Voted!! I want one dozen of those.
