  1. The Andy Griffith Show (the black and white episodes) and Star Trek TOS are shows I will watch till I can't breathe. They never get old to me. TOS is on every Saturday night and programmed into my DVR.
  2. McQueen and Hoffman gave among heir best performances. If you want to see Dustin Hoffman in something completely different, search for Straight Time. It costars Theresa Russell, Gary Busey, Harry Dean Stanton, M. Emmet Walsh, and Kathy Bates. He made it just around the time he did Tootsie. The two performances couldn't be more different. Also, look up High Risk https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082516/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_102 Siskel and Ebert rated it as one of the top 10 hidden gems of the 80s along with Straight Time. PS My brother visited Devils Island as a tourist back in the 90s.
  3. Welcome aboard!
  4. True. The way The Americans interwove actual events, such as the assassination attempt on Reagan into the storyline, was brilliant.
  5. The Americans (best series finale of all time), Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Mad Men and then for something lighter, The Andy Griffith Show.
  6. It's the hardest job I ever had. ?
  7. Jennifer sure kept old Herb tore up. Funny character. RIP, Frank. Thanks for the laughs.
  8. Nice custom work and a cool color.
  9. I put layer of Peal and Stick wrap on top of the jar and then screw the lid on. Keeps it clean. If they're stuck, soak them in real hot water for a while. Then go for the pliers. Helps sometimes.
  10. That stuff would bury a model car.
  11. Great job! Looks a lot better than the stuff I turned out at 13.
  12. I agree with using the Micro Scale decal film. It works, as does the clear lacquer method. Tamiya can be a little hot so be careful with it. As an additional tip, I use a small flat brush about 1/8" wide to position decals. Wet it and it'll carry a drop of water onto the decal. Helps the decal float and move easily. Use the tip of the brush against the edge of the decal for positioning. I use square or wedge shaped make-up sponges to wick the excess water away. Also I use round make-up sponges held between my thumb and middle finger to roll over the top of the decal to help it mold into place and wick any remaining water away. I build race cars so I work with lots of decals.
  13. This post should go into the What Did You Screw Up Today thread. ?
  14. I never leave critical comments, just some friendly suggestions. The builder may be a young person just getting started and we don't want to run them off.
  15. I should have looked a camera gymbal up somewhere. Amazon has them starting at $249. Two handed it is. ☹️
  16. I don't know how much this could cost to recreate it for model car use but my hands are shaky. I have to build with no caffeine or other shake inducing stress triggers which is rare. Usually it's two hands for everything like applying glue, decals or any other detail work. It's pretty frustrating. https://gizmodo.com/clever-maker-with-hand-tremors-turned-a-smartphone-gimb-1847009558?utm_source=gizmodo_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2021-06-01
  17. We'd thought about moving and decided to remodel. That was one of the biggest worries I had. I had no idea how to accomplish that. Good luck!
  18. Welcome back, Teddie. I've hears that vette is a tough one to build. Never tried it myself. As for airbrushes, the Paasche H is a great beginner brush and relatively inexpensive.
  19. I always watch the Indy 500 and this one was a great race. History making excitement.
  20. I like the 4' LED lights from Harbor Freight.
  21. Where did you get it?
