Scale I Build

  1. I don't know where else to post this one, but eventually the dozer will will be chained to a lowboy and towed around by a Mack DM600, plus this forum seems to be the location of others talking about this kit. I wanted to go with a very used dozer. The thought behind this was that the guy would have bought a yellow Cat a while back and painted to to match the color of the company truck and trailer. The dozer was a fun build and I hopefully did not spend too much time weathering it. This was my first time rusting and such to a model. Glamour Shots... The engine... Closeups... Working Shots...
  2. Here is how I modified the shoe plate on the AMT Bulldozer (trade name deleted). Due to the fact that the way the assembly design is made it is difficult to get the cleat any thinner. You are able to shave down the cleat and still have assembly of the tread The next step was to determine the height that could be removed and how to do it with all the shoes turning out the same. I figured using a disc sander and the shoe being held by something that would withstand the sanding as opposed to the softer vinyl shoe. I used a piece of brass stock that was the right height and placed the shoe against the brass as I sanded the cleat to the height of the brass. The final product is a lowered cleat on the tread Hope this helps, greg
  3. I have been moving photos to photo bucket and now have the space I need. I was talking to Foxer about his awesome Cooper countryman, he mentioned that he would like to see this dozer. "Ask and you shall receive". Here is the finished product, painted nutmeg then layered stone grey over. If any one want I can post progress pics but heres the box, A fun little build would go well with sone Japanese planes. I'm an HEO and I work with dozers, so I do any model of one I can get my hands on. I do really want the AMT's cat D8H just to pricey for me. lol
