Started back in July of 2015, work has been delayed because of a basement renovation that is taking forever. Painted Tamiya TS-51 blue with clear coat, with an interior painted with Tamiya silver. I saw a picture of a 1:1 done this way and really liked it. This will have the luggage rack from an AMT 71 Corvette kit on it. Engine choice will be the totaly inappropriate Kit engine (454 big block). Thanks for looking and all comments are welcomed :-)

Started back in February of 2015, work has been delayed because of a basement renovation that is taking forever. Painted Tamiya TS-54 blue, I still need to put another coat or two on it before I clear coat it. Not sure what the interior color will be. Engine choice is the totaly inappropriate Kit engine, a tri-powerd 454 big block! Thanks for looking and all comments are welcomed :-)

Box isn't in as good of shape as the 92 was :-) Nothing is wrong with the kit, I just didn't have the frame in right. The instruction sheet. I'm using this kit for the frame and engine. Thanks for looking!

This is the 3rd 'Zinger!' I've built. The Zinger Drag and Zinger Buggy, were re-issues, but this was an original. (I think. Moulded in orange with a photo on the box. not artwork) The chrome was lousy and there was enough flash to make another kit from it. But I really enjoyed making it. It took me back to my youth , but now I've got the patience to put things right on kits. In case you've never seen these before, here's some original promo photos: Here's my attempt: I hope it made you smile My other Zingers are here:

These kits are rare and they fetch a lot of money on eBay. Does anybody know what happened to the tooling for that kit? With all the recent MPC re-releases it would be nice to see that one brought back too.

So, I have begun to restore a friends old Corvette model. It's an original MPC 1966. Molded in silver. While taking the suspension apart, I noted the lower A-arms might have been installed wrong to give it more of a lifted front stance. There are also spacers on the upper A-arms,so must have been nose up. Pictured are the lower A-Arms. Anyone know which position is correct? I have a later version of this kit, but the suspension is different. Thanks for any help.

hey so this is my first build a Mpc jeep . i choose to not just build it box stock. and went for a more challenging build. where i had to actually think and do some fabrication that was not on paper. i ended up using .metal mesh . Lego tires . broom-hair . q-tips. F40 seats ,a pen ,wire , diffent pieces of plastic , a rubber Eraser , and a key chainstrap. all this together with the mpc kit ended with this lifted jeep i call the Mud Toy. for a first build i am happy with it had such fun building it . thank you for checking it out . and feel free to leave a comment or just have a nice day..

Need help figuring out what this hood is from. I have a few parts from an old MPC 68 Camaro convertible & believe this is the hood from it. I also have an old AMT 1968 Camaro RS-396 Rally Sport hard top body. The hood fits the AMT body. I know these early Camaro's were similar between the MPC & AMT. Any help is appreciated,Thanks.

Here's my latest build. A bit of fun, really. Apart from cleaning up a lot of parting lines, it went together easily. I used some parts-box Cragars and GoodYears to replace the kit tyres and rotated the engine top 180 degrees so the magneto is at the rear of the engine, as it is in the photos I referenced. Thanks for looking

I've seen a couple of very nice prostock Mustang II's here recently. This is the old Firefighter kit. Just going box stock, but with Ford Amparo blue and stripes from the Revell Viper. Just painted and cleared. Long way to go yet, I have a love/hate thing with old MPC stuff.

My last few builds have been a bit of a brain-fry, so I decided to have a bit more fun with kit building. These Zingers really captured my imagination and the more I found out about the original creations, the more I wanted to build the whole set. Next, I'll build the Super Drag Zinger and the VW Beetle Zinger (got an original kit on eBay for $20, as Round 2 don't seem to have licencing rights to the Beetle) It was a lot of fun...except the point where I discovered the printed instructions were wrong, and the valley-cover is on the wrong way round, meaning the magneto is at the wrong end of the engine. I wigged-out about this, screwed-up the instruction sheet and ranted about it for 10 minutes, but it's actually no real problem. I just wanted to build it like the photos. I added plug wires and fuel lines and swapped the kit rear tyres for some SATCO M/T Sportsman's I had lying around in my parts box. I also added a bit of clear acetate for the 'screen. I hope this makes you smile... Thanks for looking

I used to own a 1984 Pontiac Grand Prix. The only kit available are NASCAR varieties of this 1981-1987 Pontiac G body car. Several people have done this conversion; many times using the 1/24 Monogram Monte Carlo as a basis. I decided to stay with 1/25. The MPC Grand Prix NASCAR kits had nice bumpers. The also had huge wheel opening bumps. This is a big job to eradicate. The MPC '80 Class Action Monte Carlo provided the glass, interior tub, chassis and 305 Chevy V8 engine I needed. With very little filing, it all fits I originally omitted the photo of the best available MPC Monte Carlo kit. I got one at a local store relatively inexpensive. It was re-issued by Round2 in 2008.

This is going to be a basic build up with just a few minor modifications. I've already built up the engine and started on the rest of the chassis parts. The firewall has been tacked in place along with a few other parts for test fitting and will come apart for painting. Considering it's age, I think the engine builds up as a decent replica of the SOHC 427 Ford as compared to my reference photos. I noted the the front timing cover wasn't a precise fit and the location of what I think is an ignition box isn't clear. I did strip the chrome off the blower case and timing cover before painting. My goal is to have this done in time for the NNL East. We'll soon see..... -Steve

Finally getting a chance to post the finished photos. They are courtesy of my Daughter Rachael, I had to wait until she was done with her school finals. The model was actually done it time to display at the NNL East. All in all I'm very pleased with how it came out. It did fight me all the way, mostly due to me and Murphy's Law although it's 40 year old plus design did make for a few challenges. Of course you may want to consider I was building out of my mostly factory stock element. The photo above probably shows the paint best. The Metalflake effect was actually done with course metallic and pearls. I thought it would look more in scale then the Metalflake paints I've seen. The kit decals includes just about variation, I chose to go with how it looked on the Car Craft magazine cover. Thanks for looking, If you missed the on the workbench build up here the link .... -Steve http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87997&hl=

Okay, I was in my local hobby shop yesterday. (A day off AND a hobby shop run! On a Friday! WOOT!) The owner has a good selection of car kits, and constantly brings in his older stuff so that people can buy them, if the want to. Normally, there's not a lot exciting. However, this week, I bagged the MPC (Fundimensions issue) Mustang SVO (1984) and the MPC/Ertl Knight Rider KITT model. Both were still sealed. Neither are now. I couldn't resist. I've wanted both for a while, and while I know they're not worth as much open, I don't care, because models need to be free! Anyway, looking at KITT, I was pretty confused. The kit is a 1986 issue, and has a "vented" nose, kind of like the breathers on a 1980 TA, vs. the flat plate grilles on a normal 3rd Gen T/A. Normally, KITT is seen with lights in that spot, even before Season 4 when he got tons of lights. I've seen some pics of KITTs with the vents "open" (I think) to reveal a few lights. What the what is correct? I see that there's a large-scale Mattel version of KITT that has the exact same grilles as this 1/25 kit, so now I'm confused even more. Does anyone know what is up with this nose? Okay, then it gets REALLY weird. I noticed that the kit of KITT has "Turbo" written on the fender, has no side extractors (while KITT seems to in real life) and it has a small badge on the sail panel (B-pillar). Even odder, there is an Indianapolis "winged wheel" emblem low on the fender. Now, I know that there was a pace car of the 1989 GTA Turbo versions. I found some pictures on the net of the badging, and it's dead on. The "Turbo" writing is the same, the winged wheel is the same and in the same place. The KITT kit comes with a GTA-type hood, with the vents, as well as the real KITT hood. The model also comes with a wraparound GTA-type spoiler. However, there is NO cladding on the lower body, like GTAs had (and in fact, where the winged wheel is). The "Turbo", a GTA like badge on the sail and the winged wheel are moulded in. WTF? Can anyone shed any light on this? How is it possible that an '86 kit would have the body of an 89 GTA Turbo in it? The model is definitely original; that's how it was when I popped open the celophane. Also, the model has the right "scanner" on the front to peek through, so I'm pretty sure that's the right body shell. Is this thing a time traveller, or am I missing something obvious. Thanks, guys!

Nothing fancy just a clean quick build. Love how easy these kits build. I saved the decals for the case its in due to the fact the color was way off from what I intended and I didnt feel like stripping and repainting
