I just picked up some Racing Champion diecast and one of them has bad paint cracking, and the windshield looks like it "shrunk" and disconnected in a couple key areas. My thoughts are this model must have been sitting in direct sunlight for a long time and maybe the heating up/cooling down shrunk the plastic windshield slow enough that it didn't just "break' or crack, but rather disconnected from the glue points and slowly shrunk. I'm guessing there's nowhere to get a replacement for that? The paint may also be a result of sitting in the sun, inside the package for alot of years. The "model year" of this diecast comes from the 97 season of NHRA races, so I'd imagine it was made in 98. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get severely cracking paint to look a little better? In a previous life I was a body/paint guy and the only time we had to deal with cracking paint was the clear coat cracking which sometimes could be fixed. But with these diecast's there's no clear to fix so is there any solution other then a total repaint? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I’m just wondering where I can find some better parts for super detailing a 1992 Pontiac. I’m using the ‘92 Rusty Wallace Pontiac for the base and doing a ‘92 Petty Nascar. I am trying to find a better rear end that I see on some of other super detailed projects from guys like Clay Kemp. Also the billet oil tank, and billet pulleys for the engine.

Gentlemen, wondered if any of you have ever needed to request missing parts for a Fujimi kit, and how that went for you....I recently bought a stack of Fujimis off an ebay Japanese seller, and one was missing the bag for wheels, tires, axles, and a couple of small white parts. I ask because my emails to them off their site don't seem to send without kicking them back to me, so I wrote them and sent a copy of the instructions indicating the parts in question.....any opinions or war stories will better prepare me...lol.....thanks boys, the Ace...

Last night as I was perusing eBay I got to wondering how many others here scavenge eBay for extra parts and bits for model projects too. What kind of model parts, bits and bobs do you usually look for on eBay? What kind of pricing to you shoot for? (Yeah we all know there is that one crazy guy who thinks his parts are made of unobtanium, we are Not Discussing Him, at all!) Then there are the "Breakers" you know the ones who buy any kit they can get their hands on, old or new and part them out. Do you buy from them? I know some are bothered by them, does it bother you enough to not buy the part you need for a project or kit missing that piece? While we're discussing Breakers, has anyone pieced a kit out that way, did you make enough to cover your time and the price of the kit? I'm really wondering if most of those sellers actually sell off the whole kit or in the end are stuck with the junk no one wants, plus do they really end up making a dime or two?

Does anyone know a retailer with a good selection? I have looked for weeks and some places have a few items but usually not much. Looking for wheels (modern style) but engines etc would be nice as well. Wheel and tire sets would be a big plus too.

.........just called Round2 to thank them once again for quick and exact part replacement of issues with one of the car kits. I have contacted them a few times over the past couple of years, and they have never once let me down. thought I would share this with the forum, because I have found that their company truly is customer oriented.......best, the Ace.......

Perusing through Evilbay window shopping some of the old styrene for sale, I started wondering just who is to blame for some of the stupidly high asking prices for old/vintage kits, parts, build ups, boxes...? Is it the seller? Is it the buyer? Is it someone lacking patience to hunt the old kit(s) down? Maybe even nostalgia, "I built this as a kid"? Is it just because it's old? Finally are some of these kits really worth a huge asking price when the builder may have to exercise extreme care with old brittle styrene? What do you guys (and gals) think about it, would you even rather bother with the old styrene? (Lots of questions, trying to generate some civil discussion). What do you think?
