The other day I was going through my "built before becoming a teenager" stash and ran across a Richard Petty Charger, molded in Petty blue and black. It looks like I didn't bother to paint it, just slapped it together and put the decals on. I thought it was a Johan, but now I'm thinking MPC. Anyone have a recollection of this kit? And who made it? Why are the prices so ridiculous for the newer-issues ( Racing Champions , Round2 ) of the ancient MPC (et al.) 1973-1974 Road Runner / GTX ???? Even the half-arsed RC-era version --- complete with its 1975-1978 chassis and dashboard --- is fetching some stupid money ! Never mind that the Duke of Prunes 'Daisy Prunes' reissue is going for stellar prices ; it's that tin-packaged-with-some-character release that may as well be auctioned at Sotheby's New York Gallery ! What the deuce ? I hope that Round2 will release this kit again , this time sans and endorsements / embellishments ; just a nice , non-Prunes , non-tin-boxed version ... -
Which one of the fledgling resin casters / masters is going to make a grille for the MPC 1975-1976 Dart Sport to convert it to the 1973-1974 style ? A tail lamp "filler" panel would be nice , too (although one could make one from the existing 1975-1976 "ornate" tail light panel in the kit) . I'd make one , but with my worsening arthritis , it's downright difficult to work with intricate pieces these days ( ) . 1973-1974 grille ; 1975-1976 grille :
