Happy Spring all,,its warming up here in motor City,,getting ready for the Autorama at cobo hall,,one of the best car shows in the nation,,along with the Woodward cruise in August. I just finished the MPC 67 ' GTO,,it turned out ok,,,warning about the front grill set. It dosent fit right. lol. not sure if its just the production lot I got my kit from Hobby lobby or what,,but man ,,had to file ..sand ect to get it this close. And as always I chopped,,cut,,modified quite a bit of it. I put some real tires on the back,,added some headrest to the seats,,added some side dump header pipes,,opened up the rear wheel wells to fit back tires,,installed a 409 mtr from the x-tras bx,,and 671 blower. Installed a replacement rear end from the x-tras bx. Rattle can sprayed red from the hardware store paint. hand painted everything else. Overall its a cool kit,,but it will test your fabrication+ modification skills. maybe if I had just left it stock it would have been easy,,but I hardly ever do that often. Build on!

This is the third drag car I built as part of my "build five at one time" madness, Dyno Don Nicholson's '62 Chevy Impala 409 powered super stock. I used Revell's 1/25 kit and decals from SMP along with Fireball resin carbs and Detail Master distributor/ plug wires and some scratch-built fuel lines and linkage. I highly recommend this Revell kit, I encountered absolutely no issues and it looks very accurate IMO. Cheers, John

Happy summer all,,just goin thru some kits in storage,,and found this. Sprayed w/Testors qukdry enamel,,and did some added x-tras. Great kit,,went together very well,,and I dig this body style EC. Now all I need is the 1:1 car,,,enjoy your builds!

So,,the local drag car guy down the street{circa 1969 if you will} is drivin down a country road one day,,passes a farm or two,,and behind one of the barns he see's just the back tail shape of the 59' Impala,,so he drives up the driveway,,knocks on the door and asks if the Impala is for sale,,the farmer says yes,,but the motors blown,,needs brakes,,interior is shot,,but Ill let it go for 150$,,car guy pulls out 150$,,says thanks,,and rounds up a few buddies to tow back to shop in his garage,,and wants to build a open top drag car out of it,,,,,,,8 months later,, hes got the IMPALA "X". In reality,,this was a 5$ 1/2 built glue blob in a ziplock bag I got at the NNL Macomb county Mi a few years ago,,and decided to give it a whirrl. I have no idea what brand kit it is,,or what year it was mfg,,it was quite old though,,the glue on it was yellowed and just about dried out and cracked,,you could pull everything apart by hand. Custom cut the chassis to fit drag rear end/slicks,,installed straight front axle from x-tra parts bx,,installed a blown 409 from the x-tras bx,,everything else is from the leftovers parts boxes lying around the house. Hand dremmeled the windshield from leftovers stuff,,, rims + tires from the leftover parts bxs,, Drag headers installed also. made seat belts for it. Lookin forward to seeing "IMPALA X" some saturday night at the local strip! Cheers!

Greetings from mtr cty,,heres what I would do to a 58 Impala if $$ was no object for the 1:1 car. Its a kit from the 90's,, AMT 3n1 I got at a swap meet,,10$ I think. Modified parts are: Removed hard top,, Intake for the 409 mtr. Rims,,rear tires,,sidepipes, used custom front airdam that came in kit. Painted w/ Testors quickdry enamel. Hand painted interior. Kit came w/opening doors,,but they took alot of sanding+ size/fit work to get them to close decently. Hand painted sidetrim work as well. No BMF anywhere on this,,just taped it off w/tamiya tape,,and painted it. I think its one of Chevy's best designed body styles. So unique. Enjoy all the works here,,keep on building!

Built this awhile back. Came out really nice. This was a really good kit and a pleasure to build. 1 (205) by Eric Lucas, on Flickr 1 (206) by Eric Lucas, on Flickr 1 (207) by Eric Lucas, on Flickr 1 (208) by Eric Lucas, on Flickr 1 (209) by Eric Lucas, on Flickr

A little spring project, because starting new builds is more fun than finishing old ones *EDIT* It's going to be an altered now. Ebay parts-lot warped body, hogged-out 1/43 semi tires on the front with AMT 55 Nomad wheels, Double Dragster front radius rods, scratchbuilt rear ladder bars (will be drilled to match the fronts), AMT 56 Ford rearend, AMT 62 Impala 409 engine with offenhauser valve covers, AMT parts-pack blower and injectors with AMT 57 corvette gasser front cover, manifold, and fuel pump. Roll bar is sprue, seat is modified NASCAR piece. Bear with me as I've been having problems linking from Photobucket and the "edit" feature doesn't seem to function on this forum

Howdy all,,takin' a break from cars on this one. Got this @ a swap meet,,its a 1990 AMT "Sportside" Chevy PU. I was going to just do total bx stock,,no wires,,plumbing ect,,but as it came along that changed, lol. I used flat white primer,,w/testors Lime gold over it,,1 coat,,thats it. The high rise mtr setup is kit supplied! Nice to you,,AMT! Rims are the kit supplied also,,but not the tires. I like a bit more aggressive tires on this one. It should make a nice tow trk for the traliers w/cars on them. Thanks for looking,,Cheers!

Happy 2014 all,,hope your staying warm in this crazy weather. Heres what Ive been up to recently,,its the AMT 72' GTO,,a decent kit ,,although it had some "issues" as far as fit+ design,,had to modify a few things to get it together. But it turned out ok,,I used different rims+ tires, but other than that,,with some minor wiring/plumbing thats about all I did to it. Fun kit overall,,have fun and stay warm!

Picked up an opened AMT '62 Bel Air 409 off of evilbay it's missing both intake manifolds and nothing else. It came with photo etch wipers and full detail kit so the two intakes missing is a nuisance that I'll live with I guess. Question - who makes a resin intake manifold for the 409? Dual four barrels would be nice but, Webers would be so fine!
