So I got this Polar Lights 55 Chevy Badboy kit at a local swapmeet/rummage sale a couple weeks ago. The kit body is lacking to say the least, but I came up with the idea of putting a 1/16 scale blown HEMI in it from a Snake Prudomme Funny car (car was in fair shape anyway.)
1st order of business was to disassemble the engine and strip/repaint parts + add more realism (strip chrome and paint/alclad as necessary)
2nd (which I am working on at this time) work on engine details : new metal lines, new blower belt, anodized fittings, new wires, and new solder fenderwell headers
3rd: Make the engine fit the small body. This became a BIG pain! I had to stretch the body at the doors another 3/4" to get the giant mill to fit between the fenders.......no hood on this Badboy!
4th: Paint the body in a scheme that was reminiscent of the 50's.......Paint is Seaside Aqua from Rustoleum (decanted and airbrushed), once dry, I will paint the roof, quarters, and trunk white.
5th: Remove shotty kit body molded-in details and add back chrome parts/lights from a '55 Chevy kit (Polar Lights kit is molded in Flo Green like a toy)
Here are some pics of where this at as of today on the last two. ENJOY!
