I never thought I'd be writing one of these.Sometimes we take people for granted, losing track in our busy lives or just not paying attention. Gordon's name came up at the last Model show here in Phoenix with everyone pondering "what ever happened to Gordon Fields?" Gordon passed away August 21, 2011.In case you didn't know along with being a great modeler he was an accomplished piano player. I first met Gordon at one of the earliest meetings of The Moonlight Modelers at Jerry Keens home. What I remember was his kind way and big smile. He always had time to talk and acknowledge other builders. The big thing, and I mean BIG, was his penchant for the large scales. He was constantly building in the largest scales not only for himself but for others. His big sense of humor was evident in his daily driver. He was the first Gran Torino. He built himself the greatest model hauler you could imagine, it was a 1972 Gran Torino Wagon,BIG engine, Hood Scoop and all, with a gray ash wood paneling, oh yeah, and Jerry's chrome wire wheels. I have to say Gordon, we will miss you.
