  1. First true glue and paint model in a long time. Had a roommate outing looking around at local shops and came across a small ran-by-one-guy comic shop and he had a bunch of models. Being a big supernatural fan, I had to get it. I learned a lot with this model, such as patience and DONT TOUCH THE DARN PAINT OR ANYTHING EVER. ahem, anyways. Had some rough goings, like realizing I misaligned the interior panels and permanently goofing the alignment in the final product, having some orange peeling in my primer that wouldn't sand away, and TOUCHING IT WHILE IT WAS WET. But in the end things smoothed over with the exterior paint and it ended up looking fairly smooth. The chrome trim is rough and will be touched up because I thought I bought a fine tip pen but it wasn't. Anyway enough rambling and enjoy my poor photos
  2. Anyone know what kit these bucket seats might be from? Thanks!
  3. This was inspired by a t-shirt, and Arizona's Stupid Driver law that is supposed to deter idiots from crossing flooded washes, by forcing them to pay for recovery costs. The roof is from my Honey, We Have A Problem diorama, the Tamiya - Isuzu Vehicross. The babe is a Preiser figure, with epoxy putty clothing, had to use a Victoria Secret catalog for reference. I vacuum-formed the sign posts and drilled lots of holes; sign is a photograph that was improved with PhotoShop and printed on thick paper (along with title plaque), reflectors are Farmers Insurance bumper stickers, attached with Grant Line bolts. First time I have used Woodland Scenics, Water Effects, which is like a thick Tacky Glue, added a little acrylic paint. Real rocks, dirt, wood and grass, epoxy putty Prickly Pear and Barrel Cactus, paper Agave Cactus, Celluclay ground. There is a Tarantula waiting for her. I cut the base in a diamond to mimic the sign from the best point-of-view. So I made two dioramas with one model. Who would rescue her?
  4. I'll be moving there soon and would like to know the local action for model car clubs. Thanks
  5. Hello, all! I'm trying to organize my space for the new year, and am trying to locate some cardboard storage boxes. I had bought some many years ago that measure 9"X3.25"X2.5". These white boxes are perfect for a single model car, but I have no idea where I got them, or where I can find some. Anybody know what I'm talking about? Thanks!
  6. I wanted to have a large scale model which would hopefully breathe some new excitement into the scale car modeling profession. As a kid in the 1970s and 1980s, scale modeling was quite popular. Video games on a regular television was even a new concept (i.e., Pong, Atari 2600). There were also no iPods or X-Boxes, and both the Apple home computer and cable television industries were then in their infancies. So the kids of the day, myself included, were quite interested in building scale models and slot car racing, and I wanted to bring some of that excitement back into today's interconnected world. I found this forum yesterday, and I think it will become among my favorites to visit! Behold is my partially assembled Monogram Turbo Trans Am model in 1/8 scale. I cannot take credit for this build. My friend Randy is a scale modeler whom I met with on eBay about 14 years ago! I was so impressed with his builds that I had asked him to create this custom build for me. He generously agreed. These are the original photos which Randy emailed me years ago as he was building the model! I'll upload photos of the finished model in a subsequent post!

  9. Any info on guns in 1/24 or 1/25? I'm not too specific on exactness, as 1/24 and 1/25 look basically the same to me. I really want some double barrel shotguns for hillbilly trucks to make into sawed-offs XD Any kind of pistols, too, would fit nicely.
  10. A few cars I'm working on.... With a catch
  11. Hey there! This is my first ever post! I don't like the normal everyday model car, usually (except for my Datsun 240 kit ). Thusly, I make rusty cars, as opposed to shiny ones. And here's one, a 1970s K4 Blazer. I made the Bondo out of patching plaster with red paint added until it looked almost right (I know it is not perfect :/) and I painted it with model railroad paints. The junk is quite assorted, from a TV, to paint cans, eight batteries, and some other stuff I forgot about? Opinions? Suggestions? Your rusty builds?
  12. Hello everybody, My name is Matthew Thompson, I am 15 years old and I have had three model car kits sitting in my basement for the last two years that I would love to put together. I have recently built the level one kit (1969 Camaro Z/28 SS) because it was very easy and only took one day, but I would really like to start on the couple of level two kits I have. The first of the two kits is the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, and the second is the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. I have a perfect spot in my basement for working on the kits (I just need to clean it off), but what I was really wondering was what tools and materials I should get together before I begin this project. At the moment, the materials I have include two Testors liquid cement cartridges (1 Fl. Oz. each) and the Testors Special Value Paint Set that includes 9 bottles of paint (gloss yellow, gold, gloss red, gloss blue, gloss green, silver, gloss black, gloss white and thinner). For tools all I have is the four paint brushes that were included in the paint set. This doesn't seem like enough to me because in all of the model making videos I have watched, they have many tools laid out in front of them and they use all of them in the making of the car. Am I correct in that I need more tools and materials? If I am, what should I purchase before starting this project? Thank you in advance and have a nice day. Thanks again, Matthew Thompson
