I needed a 1/2" I beam. Couldn't find one at the LHS, so I made one. I used a tool from my R/C days, called a "balsa stripper" to cut strips of plastic. It follows the edge of the plastic sheet, so it will consistently cut the same width. Uses #11 blades, and is adjustable from nothing to about a half inch. I didn't try to cut all the way thru, just scored it and busted the strips off with pliers. Available from most places that sell R/C stuff, about $7.50. Some glue: instant I beam!
