Scale I Build

Found 5 results

  1. I'm interested in building a 27' flatbed semi trailer in 1/25 scale to go behind a Ford C-900 COE tractor, since I don't have storage room for the longer trailer kits I see on the market. What kit would folks recommend I use and shorten: the AMT expandable? The Moebius 48' cambered? Any others? Are there posts folks remember where such a conversion has been done? I haven't found anything with my searches. Thanks in advance for your help!
  2. I finished my AMT Great Dane extendable flatbed trailer. I had a break in the weather and took it outside for some pics. Some mods were done to it to customize it. The front bulkhead is held in place with hidden magnets allowing its removal. A deck extension was scratch built to increase the length of the deck for larger loads. A tag axle was added to improve the GVWR. A rear "Oversized Load" placard was scratch built since the decal was included in the kit. It is being pulled by my Freightliner DD day cab I finished last year. It will eventually be loaded up with Plymouth Superbirds and Dodge Daytonas. (I have to build them first) Comments welcome. 3. Hello, mates! It's been a while since my last post, sorry for that. So I'm glad to introduce you the model I finished just on 31 of December, 2015. By the way, this is the first big rig I was building I took an Italeri kit and carried on a little conversion. The cab was given a rear wall as I wanted it as a daycab. The bed is made from styrene sheets and profiles, the boards were cut from balsa wood sheet. I also made straight exhaust pipes from styrene rod and added mounting brakets made from wire and square profile. The truck has got some aftermarket parts - super-single front tires, six-spoke resin rims, photoetched badges on the hood and grille and the dog, of course. As you can see I tried to represent some wiring and plumbing under the hood and chasis, of course that is not 100% close. The final point is the weathering. You know, I like to give a 1/24 scale model some weathering, because it geves you much more opportunities than 1/35 scale. The effects you can see on cars and trucks in a real life are varied extremely wide, so there's a full scope to train your skills. As a result of it all - here we got this old, ratty but still sturdy workhorse straight from some construction site or a junkyard. I hope you'll enjoy it. Greetings from Russia!
  4. I bought the GMC Pickup (1977) single cab shortbed with the snowplow. And i made a custom trailer to it. and im geting the GMC wrecker from revell. has anyone done the revell tow truck and can show me pics or any custom wreckers (pickups no mach trucks).
  5. I got this truck from my dad. It did have dual rear axles, and I removed one, moved the remaining one up to a point central to the two and set it there. I lengthened the driveshaft and beefed up the frame a bit. I added Evergreen square tube to the rear top part of the frame, after removing the big rig trailer hauling apparatus thing (you might know what I mean). The bed is from some tandem trailer, cut a bit. I added a CB radio with antenna, blacked out the grille to give it a bit of a newer look (plasticky, more like) and weathered the whole thing with rust powder underneath and black wash on EVERYTHING except for the front windshield. Bumper is currently AWOL, but I cut it so it's only as wide as the grill. This was fully unpainted when I got it. All baby blue and black. Now it's all Farmall Red and black! Actually, this is a perfect match for Farmall paint. We got it to repaint our Farmalls, a Cub with a PTO and dually rear wheels, an A (which we sold) and an H which hasn't been repainted yet because it runs terribly and is awaiting restoration.
