Scale I Build

  1. Hello everyone, I have been building models since I was 6 years old. Mostly building military armor, some planes and ships. I started building model cars at 14 when my dad got his '71 Dodge Charger 500 Which he let me drive a couple of times and that got me hooked on MOPAR. Currently I am building 50's, 60's and 70's muscle cars factory stock from all manufacturers. I like to research the cars and the history surrounding them to get the build as accurate as I can even if it requires some scratch building or kit bashing. Looking forward to sharing in the experience of model car building. Ric
  2. I'm back! At least for a few posts. So, a quick update on my situation: I have not bought a home yet, but I have moved out of my old place and into a cheaper place that's just as nice. I'm still looking into a home and talking things over with a lender. I didn't want to start any builds until I moved into a more permanent home, but they've been piling up and it's going to take awhile to get them all built. So, I decided to build a few and save the boxes to make sure they don't get damaged when i do finally move. So...........here is my first of the new year. It's a 1971 Trans Am based on the Revell model of a 1970. It's a very nice model and I highly recommend it. 3. Here is my second build of the year a 1974 Road Runner. The wing is from the 71 Cuda kit. Had a slight problem with one of the stripes being broken when I got the kit, but the painted stripe is barely noticable. 4. I picked this kit up from a fellow modeler back at the IMPS Syracuse Show in October 2019, and I started it in November. My inspiration for this build was Little GTO by Ronny and the Daytonas, and since I've been on a Muscle Car kick, why not build the muscle car that started it all. The build is essentially "box stock", with the California license plates coming from the Revell 1941 Chevrolet Pickup kit (they actually say 1965, so close enough). Thank you to Tbill for providing the blue paint for the engine. Exterior color is Rustolium Colonial Red over Flat Black.
  5. Done this about a decade ago when i first learned how to draw paths in PS. Started on a rough pencil sketch. Kept on adding details to make this. Did it with a mouse so it was a pain to learn.
  6. The very first car model I ever tried to build was a Challenger T/A I got from Hungate's in Independence Mall Wilmington, NC. I always wanted to get another one and do it in Sublime green. I got a few gift cards and decided to use one of them to get this kit. It came out great. The kit is a pleasure to build. 8. Well, if you haven't noticed by my profile pic, I'm a Chevelle guy. When I saw this kit coming out I knew I had to have it. This is the Chevelle I always wanted. I wanted to be the first to post, but because of work wasn't able to get the job done, so I got beat by a couple days. 9. Started it months ago, but never got the chance to post it. Came out OK, but spilt some black paint on the grill, so i just went ahead and made the grill all black after one I saw online. 10. Built this awhile back, but didn't have a chance to post it until now. Not bad for an AMT model. SAM_2539 by Eric Lucas, on Fli SAM_2542 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_2541 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_2540 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr
  11. Here's my revell '69 nova SS with a 350 size engine. This was a huge milestone in my building as this was my first paint job to turn out flawlessly. I absolutely loved this build and I put as many drag racing options as I could into it, while still keeping it a street car. If anyone sees anything I could improve upon or do better please say something. I want to get better
  12. Hi all! It's been quite a while since I posted any progress on any of my models. I recently set up a new model desk and finally finished up my Dodge Challenger, so here are some studio pictures of the finished build. Enjoy!
  13. Came out great. Not a bad kit.
  14. My second time building the kit. Came out good.
  15. Bought the kit with my tax refund. Been wanting one for my collection for awhile. Had to oreder the decals because the ones the kit came with fell apart. The kit itself wasn't bad but, there were some issues. The engine was highly detailed; even had an air grabber on the air cleaner. However, the engine bay was not detailed, nor was the underside of the car. I also hated the rod system for the wheels. Especially, since I only had one rod with the kit. Over all though it came out OK.
  16. Loved the first kit so much I went out and got another. There's still a few flaws and I'm putting the finishing touches on them. I just wanted to get the pics while it was nice and sunny out; we're expecting rain soon. The color, of all the big bottles of yellow paint they could have, is Blue Angels Yellow oddly enough. As always I built it stock for my collection.
  17. Need to work on the grill a bit, bt other than that; it came out good.
  18. Just got the kit a couple weeks ago. It's not a bad kit, though I don't like the thin metal emblems. Almost lost them, and on top of that I bent the metal that goes over the tail lights. Over all though it came out good.
  19. Got this kit a couple weeks ago. It's a Monogram kit. I've been wanting a 57 for awhile now, so I thought I'd pick it up. The kit isn't too bad, but I did have some issues. The glass for the windsheild was bigger than the frame! I also had an issue with the front suspension fit. There is also a hole for a radiator hose on the engine, but no hose, nor mention of one in the directions. I also hate the lack of decals. However, I think it came out well. I found a picture of a car just like it and copied the paint scheme. I wanted a two tone interior, and I liked the paint scheme of the inspiration car.
  20. This was the Jenking racer kit. I wanted a stock looking car though. Lots of decals, but non for a stock version. Came out well though for a kit that felt cheap.
