Scale I Build

  1. Steve H's "Parking lot with some landscaping" has inspired me to finally complete my RAT Trike's diorama! Here are two (2) rough pictures with more to come . . . Thanks, Steve!
  2. This Fujimi kit, built to look old and ratty. Modification were, changing wheels and tyres, lowering and exhaust tip. Rims were made using old Esci G-class centers and Pegasus aluminium rings and tyres.
  3. So I stumbled upon this a while ago, and knew I had to use it for inspiration for a build.. Today is the day I started to make that happen. Wont be an exact replica, but I am taking major cues from it, I debated between a few bodies, but the 41 won in the end (mostly cause it has a straight 6 and its ugly) Started with a slice off the bottom then started on a mild chop, I didn't do nearly as much as I initially marked.
  4. Im looking for Merc. grills for my rat rods... im looking for that old school Desoto / merc. Big tooth grills for my 1/25 rat rods... i love the look of the big teeth in the grill i feel its very aggressive.
  5. I've only made 3 kits this year and I'm only really happy with one of them ( http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89942#entry1188849 )so I thought I'd give the Stacey David Rat Roaster a try. For this build I'll stick with kit tires and rims. I'm not real happy with the resin bomber seats I ordered for this build, so I'll stick with the kit seats, too. Here is the color I chose for the body. It's a radically different direction for me as I usually make my cars in flat colors because I'm not that great at nice, glossy paint jobs. I decided the metal interior should have the same color as the body. I drilled the holes out that had the goofy upholstery. I will mask off and paint the upholstered door panels black after a few days of drying. I decided I'd keep the firewall the same as the body color too (I never do this). This decision was based on looking at 1:1 cars in several issues of Rod & Custom magazine. The rest of the body parts have been painted the same color. I'm going for a different look this time and we'll see how it goes.
  6. Hello Model Car Magazine members! My Name is Rod and I used to build a lot of cars back in the 1990's. I have migrated away form cars for over a decade and I decide to change things up a bit and get back into building some Rat Rods. I have seen a number of cool hard to find kits re-released and the additions to the Revel '32 Ford kits is just too much for me to be on the sidelines. I gotta build some new rod kits! I have dug through my old stash and found some old kits I have started and plan to complete. Thanks!
  7. hello to all friends of cut, file and of course fill and sand plastic models ... today i start a new project it will be a 72 gto in guybrushs custom rat rod style with some new bodywork (i have no idea how the way goes i just build) for the base i pick out the 72gto from mpc (its a horrible model bad quality and less details) so i decide to make some unique out of it... at first i cut the roof (make a el camino i love those cars) and the frontmask then i add some sheet i change the hood with one of a 70 challenger and the grille comes from a 69 charger thats it for today regards maik
